Lavender split to Black Copper is also acceptable.

I will not be looking to buy them until March of 2018, but I am interested in getting on a waiting list or researching anyone who is breeding them. Must come from an NPIP farm. Prefer Merrick's vaccinated but not necessary. Eggs MUST be a 4 or 5. The birds themselves do not have to be show quality, but the eggs must be dark. Live birds only; I've learned my lesson on shipped hatching eggs. LOL.

Please leave me a message here or PM me - I'd love to find a good breeder to purchase from. :)

Good luck with your quest!

Lavender being a project color and so many having a hard time keeping their egg color correct means you are in for a challenge.

I have randomly hatched a Lav cockerel from FBCM hens. :love Lav is a recessive gene and can show up anywhere.

I have also seen someone local selling Lav Marans, but stated their egg color was not yet to par. Plus they aren't likely NPIP, which I agree is important (in fact required for shipping) but honestly it's a false sense of security because it doesn't mean they haven't had Marek's, lice, mites, or a whole other host of things that aren't included in the NPIP testing.

One thing I didn't catch in your search is if it matter that they are French or American standard... meaning feathered or non feathered legs?

Happy hunting! :pop

American Standard IS feathered legs, the American standard follows the French. The English standard (Britain) calls for clean legs.

I understand about NPIP. I only need to get them from an NPIP source because I have an NPIP certified flock, so I can only add in birds who also have the requirements met, or I will lose my flock's certification.

I know it will be hard, which is why I'm setting out ahead of time to find them. ;) I have Black Coppers now, and one Splash Copper pullet...I'd like to add in the Lavender mostly because I love the color, but I would like to try to improve them if I can. If not, no big deal because I will still have lovely laying hens. :)

Thank you!
