Thanks. I used a dog crate for my chicks. But now my dog uses it. Haahaa. Not sure he will be out by spring. Can you use a MHP with ducklings and not a heat lamp? I used one for my chicks and will again in the spring.View attachment 2971021so, see the thing the ducklings are stepping on? That catches all of the extra water. So you need three pieces of wood (any size just needs to fit a waterer!) And a six inch high storage container. You will need to dump it out every two days or so!View attachment 2971029View attachment 2971035you can use something like this when they are really little! My chicks are in it right now but I use that same set up for the ducklings!View attachment 2971039pekin lives in this cage but it works great for ducklings too! You just need to hang a heat lamp on the top!!View attachment 2971060View attachment 2971054View attachment 2971062
I've never used one of those, but if it works for a chick it will be fine for ducklings! Ducklings CAN NOT have medicated food, it can kill them! Thanks. I used a dog crate for my chicks. WOOOOOHOOOOO!Look what I got today!!!!!!!!! Hummer is back! Her first egg since Dec 21 so just over a month off. I saw her in the coop on the camera this morning, then my camera went offline so I wasn't sure if she went in the box or not. Went out to fix the camera and peeked and there it was. It looks a bit more green in person. Still very light but I think more of a tint than before her break
I am happy she laid! OFC today no egg from Annabelle in the nest but Itzy is still all over her (poor girl!) so guessing she will lay. but she didn't lay Sun, said yesterday so should lay today. and since my camera was down I can't even peek to see if she went in the box and if it flew off somewhere! I didn't see it when I went to check the camera but that doesn't mean much since I have missed them before. LOL Think I need to go back out and look since Nugget was in the box then so I figured it was under her so didn't search for one.WOOOOOHOOOOO!
That's awesome news today! And what a beautiful, big egg! It's perfect! Yay Hummer!!!!!!!
P.S. did you notice on the homepage there is a banner on topic of the week for duck housing...? Might wanna check that out for your spring ducklings![]()

Hahahaha I was just working on this! The babies had their first swim lesson in the kitchen sink today... not that they needed a lesson...where are my duckling pics and videos to make me want to get some come spring? LOL
They are sooooo cute!!! I love your cayugas!! They are getting so big already! Do they have names yet?Hahahaha I was just working on this! The babies had their first swim lesson in the kitchen sink today... not that they needed a lesson...
They LOVED IT! I made the water medium warm for them and a ceramic bowl as an "island" incase they needed a break. They were SO CUTE doing little torpedo swimming under the water. They played for like 30 minutes before I decided to tell them swim time was over.

I started with the water a little lower so they could still stand... but after a few minutes I added more water so they could do real swimming!
