@Smiles-N-Sunshine how is your lockdown going?

TIME FOR DUCK EGG UPDATE!

The baby Welsh Harlequin eggs are on day 7 incubation, and looking fantastic! Eggs # 1-8, 10 & 11 are fertile and developing.

Eggs #9, 12 &13 were still completely clear, so I removed them. I gave them a crack to inspect - and they were not fertilized, which means all fertilized eggs are developing wonderfully so far! (Except egg #14 that was murdered by USPS in transit)

Blackie is currently sitting on eggs #3,5,7,8,10 and 11. I removed the 3 clear eggs from her nest while she was outside and swapped them for three other fertile eggs with good looking air cells. 1 week down... 3 to go!

Our 6 Cayuga eggs are on day 5, and also developing! They are still in the very early stage so sorry if you cannot see the veins well in the pics, especially egg#6, but I promise it's there, LOL...

I got to see their baby heartbeats today! Most of their air cells are SUPER jacked from how they shipped... so I will continue researching how to best facilitate a good hatch for them :fl

Oh how exciting!!!!!!!!!! And that is great that Blackie is still doing wonderful with them! I can't believe it has already been a week but then I can't believe I still have to wait 3 more weeks to see babies!!!!! LOL They are due to hatch right around my daughters b-day (the 21st. :) )

These are the ones that had the detached air sacs right? Glad they seem to be doing well. Hang in there babies you can do it!!!!!!!

Hummer still hasn't resumed laying and the "fluffy" spot that I thought I saw on her back isn't there and I see no true signs of molting from her, but she is still happy and healthy and eating etc. So thinking maybe a soft molt that I am not really noticing?

I ended my year with 2 eggs yesterday. and started my year with no eggs today which surprised me since Annabelle had only laid 2 in a row, and Nugget only laid 4 in a row so thought at least Annabelle would lay today. Nugget was iffy since while she seems to mostly do 5 in a row she has thrown in a 5, 3 and 2 here and there just to keep me guessing. LOL

But Dec ended with 54 eggs (thought for sure it would be a lot more since Nov from the 15-30th (when I started putting them in) I got 33, but then Hummer slowed WAY down on laying. Hummer only laid 8 eggs in Dec, Annabelle laid 21 and Nugget was the winner with 24. Nuggets last 4 eggs were 52g, 50g, 49g and 50g so she seemed to jump up a tiny big from her 46-48g eggs.

Now to see what January brings and if Hummer starts laying again or if the others start to slow down more

I'm so proud of Broody Blackie. I also can't believe we have to wait 3 more weeks... but I have anxiety about them having hatching issues so maybe the extra time to plan is good LOL

And yes! The WH are expected around the 22nd, Cayugas on the 24th!

Yes, the cayuga air cells were/are wrecked. I honestly didn't think any of them were going to develop so this surprised me a lot!

I think they will need more upright incubation later in developing... still looking into whats best for them :caf:jumpy
