IT HAPPENED!!!

no luck with hatching my own eggs....... :(

doing some butt fluff trimming and fingers crossed some eggs are fertile and I can try again in about a month. That way the chicks I am picking up next week should be out of the brooder before any HOPEFULLY hatch!

oh forgot I hadn't updated in here. So I tried twice with no luck so did some butt fluff trimming and was planning on trying about a month after that. Well thnen decided to collect for a week and set some on April 15. Had a talk with Itzy and Ditzy that they needed to get to work on making some babies and told Itzy that didn't just mean laying eggs that he needed to do his job too.......... 30 seconds later he was mating Ditzy....... OMG I was DYING at this point! That was on a Sat. I collected her eggs on Sat and Sun. Then Mon she started to go broody!!!!!!!! She laid on Mon but that was it and she was broody so I only had 3 of her eggs..

Do I decided to bid on some BBS Cochin eggs from ebay. problem was I didn't get them till Mon (was going to set on Friday) so waited and set them on Tue the 19. 4 of them didn't make shipping so had 8 to set. I am on day 6 tonight. I set 5 in the incubator, 4 shipped and the one Ditzy laid on Mon. and I gave Ditzy 6 of them, 4 shipped and hers from Sat and Sun. I know 100% that 3 in the incubator are growing, and 2 under Ditzy. There are 4 darker eggs that I am struggling to tell if they are doing anything. Then Ditzy's 2 she has under her I didn't see much but the one in the incubator is doing GREAT! I only candled Ditzy's on day 4 and it was a bit light out so harder to see. They are set to hatch on May 10! So guess we see what it brings.

I have a thread on the hatch-a-long page called Itzy and Ditzy BBS Cochin something. LOL but if you search Itzy and Ditzy it should come up. there are pictures and updates in there.


I also have 12 babies that I picked up On April 15. I will be keeping 7 or 8 of those.

Alot of chicks. Of course they go broody when you want eggs from them. I will go to that page though.
 
My store bought babies enjoyed some outdoor time yesterday. They were so cute!

And me eggs are due to hatch in 8 days.
