It has begun

Awesome! I kinda expected more dark-brown eggs, but you've got some pretty colors there! (behind the dirt)

Did you wipe or wash them, or are you going to? What's the humidity running with the bator empty?

WV, I did put the hygrometer in for a little while yesterday, after I got home.

it was reading 33%, with no water in the trays.

You guys and gals on here are gonna get me killed. My wife doesn't think any of this is exciting and I'm so excited to try this chicken thing I'm on the very edge of exploding loll

You mean incubating? Or just owning chickens in general? You don't have any chickens yet? Maybe she will get into it more once you get some. That's how it happened for me!

ahh, hail, then that's easy.......

buy her a chick........

Nice assortment of eggs BertS. I am the one obsessed with chickens in my household. I am fortunate to have a very understanding husband who is pretty handy at building things. Its a good thing because, I bought my GQF Sportsman 1502 on Ebay Monday. I have not received shipping information yet. In addition to the new big breeding coop, I see more small pens in our future to hold the "fancy" girls I want to have. I too plan on starting with either my own "backyard mix" or getting some cheap fertile eggs from a local breeder for my first or second go around. I will probably not fill that bad boy, ever, but just knowing I can set multiple weeks in a row is nice, once I get my breeding program in place.

well in that case, you've already won any arguement regarding chicks, eggs, and chicken numbers.......

I set eggs Friday night.

spent the week, dialing in the incubator, with temps and humidity.

I'm hoping tomorrow evening, I will be able to see some progress candling the eggs. If not, I will check them on Friday. I forgot to take pics of the eggs in the bator, but hopefully once the dear wife gets the kids up and moving this morning, she can send me a few, while they are turning them.
