They were not shipped eggs, just gathered from my own flock.

Were they refrigerated? Pullet eggs?
These conditions can play a role. The chicks may be malpositioned. Just keep a close eye on them. They often hatch just fine.

Ok slowing down a bit now that DH tested positive to the c....d...and I have symptoms but negative still.
So thought I'd do this before they get any bigger and while they had full crops!

Not easy believe me!
I actually have learned to sing them to sleep (somewhere over the rainbow). I know silly but the d'uccles LUV it then the older ones got curious and interested and luv it. Problem is I cant hold em ALL at same time lol!
So I sang to em to calm em down in the truck long enough to get quick pics n video!
I know sounds carazy...but hey my babies are all pets!!!

The little wing over the side of the truck bed is cracking me up... like she's SO COOL.

have 1 dozen RIR 18 barnyard mix and 12 quail eggs set
june 28 at 9pm

candled on saturday night and pulled out 4 non fertile ones (2 barnyard mix and 2 RIR)
cant see the inside of the quails so i leave them alone

my plan is to candle, turn off and take out the turner on wednesday day15, set the liner in for all eggs but not changing the humidity till thursday night for quails to hatch

I'm doing dry hatch this time with humidity around 30% right now

thinking about bump the humidity to 60%

Below are the eggs I set on the 6th, The extra big eggs were duds and the white one. All the blue eggs are going, and some of the brown. I still have 10 in incubator, 9 are for sure going. I am keeping my eye on one. It is a brown one.

this is my first time trying dry hatch, as my first one turned out horrible but i know i made a few rocky mistake ( i didnt clean the incubator completely when i got it as a new to me one, and they were really dirty duck eggs i got... ) also possibly i hand turned them but didnt clean my hand once or twice when handle... also i candled them a little too much ... ( it was duck eggs so i was candling them every night when i did the cooling ...)

so this time around im doing turner, and dry hatch so there is no reason for me to open them unless i really have to

have drawer liner bought for wednesday. i have two iffy one and two blue eggs that i cant see at all so im gonna leave them be for now and do a sniff test wednesday when i take them all out

when i setup for hatching, since quails gonna come out first
im thinking about putting them all in a shallow containter so they dont run around kick other chicken eggs, lol
is it necessary ?
