July 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Got 6 babies so far!!! Sorry, I've been totally exhausted and just glued to the incubator. Only got about 2 hrs sleep before I woke up and had to go check them again. Got 2 more really close to hatching (they're mid-zip now) but here's the kiddos so far!
The first baby, a wheaten:

#3....another wheaten, lol

#4 a splash, I think! Or really light blue

#5 another wheaten

I didn't get a pic of #6 yet, apparently. It's a dark blue. Got another wheaten out as I was typing, that's 5/6 that made it to lockdown. The other is pipped. 2/4 silvers are pipped and currently zipping, and there's 2 more blues (out of 4 left) that are pipped. Been an exciting day!
ETA: The last pic is the lil splash baby after she rolled onto her back and couldn't get up. She was too funny!
Up to 8 babies now! Whoohoo! Congratulations!
My legbar pipped! First mutt and last Wyandotte have widened their pips, but haven't started zipping yet. Pavlovskaya is *tiny* and my hatched mutt has a Faverolles for a daddy! I'm extremely happy. :wee
Awe Congratulations!!!

Can't wait to see floofy pics of em from everyone!

:jumpy :wee:love
Did that one chick hop out of one of the little divider boxes, or were some eggs not in one to begin with?
Yeah, the 4 silvers weren't in a divider, just sitting on shelf liner, but yes, every single one of them has hopped out of the baskets now  So much for my brilliant idea to keep them separated. Up to 3/6 bbs now (the others are all pipped!), 2/4 silvers (still don't think the other 2 are pipped, but I'm hopeful), and 5/6 wheatens (the last one is widening its pip hole some more, but taking lots of breaks. Might be a while). But I'm IN LOVE with the Silver babies!! They're tiny and ADORABLE and seem so sweet! I'll post pics of them in a bit. Had to take a break from bator watching to let my back relax. I think my favorite baby (aside from the silvers) is the little splash though- she's so calm and cute and sweet. She's got a sweet, dainty little voice. I just love her 😍 Here's a pic of a cuddle puddle I took a little while ago:

The 2 silvers are on the far right and the splash is on the far left. Such sweet lil cuties!!! 💓

That’s wonderful! Excellent results for a batch of eggs most people would have discounted. Your faith earned you a nice start to this flock!
Yeah, I'm really pleased with how many made it, considering their shipping experience. I do think I'm gonna have to end up getting more silvers to really have a start with them though. And who knows? May have all boys of one of the varieties...:idunnoI hope not, but it's possible. Oh, and we're gonna candle the lavenders and marans tonight (Day 12) and see how they're doing. So far, there's 10/10 Marans doing well and 5/10 lavenders(5 were infertile), so we'll see if they're still doing good. Those babies are due on the 27th I believe. I'm excited for another hatch, but hopefully I won't drive myself crazy for that one like I did this time. But yeah...BABIES!!!:woot

I'm in love with all the colours!! And that little splash....omgosh!!!😍

I was so hoping the divider boxes worked...looks like I'm resolved to using netted zip-close lingerie bags if I'm needing to keep them separated.

7 keets so far. Six in the brooder box, and one just hatched in the incubator with more eggs pipping. I usually don't remove chicks from the incubator before all the pipping eggs hatch, but the first one hatched early sometime Fiday morning and would have been starving by now if I hadn't transferred it to the brooder with feed/water, and I transferred early Saturday's and Sunday's keets this morning.

And I've got another full incubator on lockdown, due to to hatch tomorrow, and quail eggs are set to hatch Monday next. What was I thinking?! 🤪🤣

I've seen pictures of divider boxes made from plastic needlepoint canvas -- boxes with lids.

I'd be terrified of chicks getting tangled in bags.

@OzarkCountryGirl I might send you a picture of my guinea male and see if you can tell me what type he is. My hen just died about 4 weeks ago, so I have three guinea eggs in the bator due on Sunday, but they're a bit farther behind in development - Overstuffed incubator + outside edge of the bator. Probably a week and half/two weeks until hatching (In my two time experience with chickens, one experience with goose, and zero experience with guinea incubation. My gut feelings don't do so well with the bator. :idunno )

I was just thinking the same thing. I think those boxes sound pretty ideal. Something mesh-like with a lid would be awesome. May just try to make some lids that I can twist-tie on or something....might work:confused:
