July 2022 Hatch-A-Long

This is what I use to separate eggs from for example different hens or different breeds that looks similar as chicks. They are embroidery cards that I cut down to fit inside the incubator attached with small zip ties.😊View attachment 3191518
Cool! I was trying to think about how I could fit them for a NR360. Thanks! ❤️

It’s if you want to know which chicks hatched from which eggs, if all the the eggs look very similar. For example if I want to know which chicks came from which of my hens, assuming I can tell their eggs apart! 🤣 Also if you have chicks from different breeds that all look similar than you can tell which ones are which. Hope this makes sense! Example is when I was hatching Polkies and Silkies, which look almost identical at hatch, and I wanted to make sure I was selling the right chicks to the right customer.😊
hmm Thinking I should have done that for my crew since my project chicks look exactly like my splash Cochin chicks! haahaa. But guess it wouldn't have mattered once I put them in the brooder anyways. I know 2 project ones for sure since they are blue and the other 8 I think are splash...... 5 project and 3 Cochin.........

Here are some pictures of the babies
I only got 6 out of 12 quail eggs hatched 1 died
I think I have 14 hatched out of 23 chicken eggs so far and at least two other externally pipped :)

Shall I take out the rest of the quail eggs or wait till hatching is done ?
I only took out those three chickens because they looked most fluffed. Other ones needs a few more hours to dry off. I'm gonna take them out tomorrow morning

That’s what the colored leg bands are for!😊

last time I tried to use them on store bought chicks I was told what size should work and they fell off of most of them. I figure at some point I can hopefully tell them apart! haahaa. Some might have muffs so that will help if they do. The person I got the eggs from said something about blue or green legs but I swear most had yellow legs will have to look closer tomorrow. If I was selling them asap I would worry more but I will wait keep what I want and then sell the rest. I know I will sell the blues since I want splash. I want to keep 1 Cochin and 1 project. These babies are going to be HARD not to get attached to though! LOL

Yep! And this is precisely why I can't tell if these "blue" babies are from the paint eggs or the splash eggs!!!
Lolololol
Makes perfect sense!

@Iluveggers had one for her NR360 that she made! it was great sure she could help you out.
I actually got a 4 section divider made specifically for the NR360 on eBay! It fit perfectly and kept all 4 groups in a different area.

I wanted my legbars separate from my EE & OE. They *could* all look similar/the same at hatch, and I was not keeping them all. Also I wanted to be able to sex the legbars, so I kept each group separate. Good thing too, I had a few hatch at night and I wouldn’t have known which egg they came out of!
