July 2022 Hatch-A-Long

I’ve got 9/12 Dominique’s that will go in to lockdown tonight (or I guess technically tomorrow) at midnight. Hatch day will be Monday/Tuesday.

I also have a hatch Sunday - Tuesday, most likely. I have three out of four guineas left. One has been rocking around.

Exciting! My La Bresse are due on Wednesday. I can't believe how fast the time is going, although I do remember last time it felt like the first 18 days flew past and the last 3 days seemed like an eternity!

Out of my local farm store eggs, 9 were fertile and started to develop, I just pulled a blue egg yesterday so 8 now. I am going to plug in my hatcher today, and put them in lock down starting on Sun.

It's a wrap here
I turned off the incubator today after took out the last two sticky chicks ( I washed them and left them there to dry )
Finally count is
4 RIR out of 12set (10 fertile, 8 went into lockdown)
10 barn yard mix out of 17 set ( 16 fertile, 15 went into lockdown )
This is my first and last hatch of the year. I decided not to do another one but to focus on raising those babies :)

Here are some pictures of the babies
ADORABLE 😍😍😍

Woke up to one pip! Lots of chirping going on here too, it’s going to be a long day lol. Good thing we have nothing planned!

Yay! I'm so excited for you! Don't forget to drink lots of water...and sleep. I always forget to do that at hatch time. Didn't get more than 2 hrs at a time for the whole 3 days of lockdown/hatch. Felt like crap, lol. Fingers crossed for all the fluff butts!!!

Well, the power went out last night, but only for about 1.5 hrs, and the bator was still at 90* when it came back on. I'm hoping everything is OK in there. I plan to candle tonight to make sure everyone is doing ok. Last time I candled, which was on Day 14 (Wednesday) I had 4/10 Lavender Ameraucanas left, and 10/10 Birchen Marans. The babies in the brooder hated having their heat lamp off for that time, but I laid a blanket over them (with an air gap) to try and keep them warm while it was out. They still cried the whole time though, poor things. But they're fine. Hopefully the eggs are too.
