July 2022 Hatch-A-Long

I have blue and spotted brown in incubator, mail order I have white egg layers, adopt me surprise, and MM of course, and one buck eye, a SS, and a steele egger.

I’m honestly not sure what’s more exciting: hatching yourself or ordering chicks. Both are just so fun.

We're almost at Day 19! I thought I'd be a little more relaxed this go around, cuz I already have chicks, but turnd out I'm just as much of a wreck, lol. Hope I at least remember to sleep this time. Can't handle another 3 days like last time. I was so exhausted, lol!

I know! It's so exhausting. I thought I'd try to get some extra rest ahead of time in preparation this time round but it's not happening. It's too exciting!

I'm half way through day 19 now and I'm hearing some cheeping! My eggs that have lost too much weight are wobbling around so much. I really hope they make it!

One of my July HAL chicks has gone missing. Olive, our only Olive egger, went missing sometimes between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. We’ve had a lot of fox activity in the area recently. Chances of finding her are almost nil. My 3 year old opened the coop when we were watching fireworks (local holiday). Then I relied on my older kids and husband to herd the chicks back in. It’s very possible she was missed and left out all night.

Usually losing a favorite bird sends me into a frenzy of ordering or hatching. This time I’m holding strong. No more birds until the new coop, still in planning stages, is 100% finished. I’ll just have to hope I can hatch another next year that’ll be as cool as she was.

You’ll finally have white eggs! Other 3 choices are great! I wonder if you’ll be able to tell what your MM is!

The free shipping today got me, no one told me, and all my math calculations included the shipping. I was going to get FP chicks since they are cheap, to make my total $50, but they said if I wanted free shipping and a female MM I could not order FP. I switched my order to white egg layers F, and tossed in a couple F more forgeting the white eggers costed more so I got the whole shibang for $61 bucks, but now I have more females on order. And I didn't flush chick money for shipping.

Meal Maker, it’s a free egg layer chick Meyer includes, but they ask you to donate eggs to someone in need in return for the chick. Obviously they don’t check but it is a nice idea. Kind of pay-it-forward.

I *think* FP is frying pan special chicks? If not I’m curious to what it is too!
