June Hatch A Long

When I tap the shell with my fingernail it moves! I am so excited and in love. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to give away all my hatchlings. I’ve never hatched before and I’m growing attached. About 11 days to go...
If you keep them all you cant hatch more. That’s what I tell myself and then I’m ready to wave bye bye.

I absolutely can’t give up a chick that imprints on me. This hobby is going to make me need to move.

Lol I say the same thing about fostering dogs. I have 6 right now 5 are mine and one is a foster. I keep saying I need to get a bigger house so we can rescue more.

Thank you all... :hugsI now have another unzipping. So if they have pipped but haven’t started to unzip and an active hatched chick rolls the pip down to the incubator floor, should I turn it back over when I scoop the fluffball? What’s the general feeling on that? I had a half zipped chick I left to sleep that was rolled and died in my last hatch.

I’ve got plenty of chirps happening from those two holes, considering a break for dinner. I’m a little worried about the one egg it almost looks like the inner membrane is shrunk to it and the beak is now nowhere near the hole. Maybe 1/8” down from the shell? Initially the beak was out of the hole...

Well I have ducklings coming so imprinting is a real possibility, but hopefully they will imprint on their chicken mama. I’m considering Keeping one and giving away the hen my drake has been picking on/overbreeding instead. They are going to live with a friend so it might all depend how the male/female ratio shakes out too.

They’re fine still they are still breathing when they get down a bit from the shell they’re just resting.

I do roll them to a better position I’ve lost two chicks starting to zip on the bottom that I didn’t see, too.

I don't usually move mine unless there is clearly a chick in distress but I would imagine your loss was because of your previous humidity issues but it sounds like that's not happening this time at least!
If you think it's shrinkwrapped then you may need to step in. Since the incubator has been opened many times to assist it's very possible. This may be your experience with the opposite end of the spectrum on humidity!
