Right!? It’s so impressive!! I love being able to tell which breeds I have right from the beginning! :D
I don't know if I would want mine to be stamped though because I just want to see what pops out :jumpyEven though I want Lav Orps so bad! I don't know if my local farm has their 2020 ordering list yet. I don't know if they get those as chicks. I've always bought my chicks from them because they order from hatcheries like Meyers.

They did have turkens 5 years ago but they don't do them anymore :hit

K I'd take a pencil and number each egg.
Then then write the numbers down and put the codes next to each one because I'm worried that those stamps are going to get smeared really bad and you're not going to remember what they were.

That is an excellent idea!! Thanks!!

I was gonna put a tally of how many of each breed I have next to the breed name on the sheet but I like this idea much better!! I will definitely do this!!

Should I mark the air cell too?? And weigh them??

No.... You shouldn't even be able to see an air cell right now.

Chowda head... Thats what my husband calls me because I'm obsessed with corn chowder.

Those stamps on those 2 eggs had me laughing because you can't even read them. Watch out, might be some weirdness :gig

You wouldn't believe it, but the sketchy eggs (local farm eggs) are actually fertile. I may get my $8 worth. They actually emailed me telling me they had more eggs, I passed :smack

:lau that’s hilarious and adorable!!

We call people that sometimes too. I think chowderhead/chowda head is kind of a common thing in MA/New England lol more of an endearing/loving “insult” :lau

Like “you chowder head!” :lau

And right!? Some of them are REALLY bad!! LOL hopefully there is another stamp on it somewhere!!!

And oh wow!! I think I would pass too haha but hopefully they hatch!!!

Is your incubator holding steady?
Is the turner on/running now?

I think so. It was a bit high according to the spot check thermometer so I messed with it a bit. Set it lower a degree lower and it was better but egg temp was a degree too cold. So I raised it a half degree. Now the spot check is reading the right temp. I have it in a water wiggler. So the egg temp is steady and spot on it seems.

Also had to turn the temp in my room up as it was pretty cold.

Humidity is super low. Only 10%. Haven’t tried adding any water yet.

Hopefully the other thermometers and hygrometers get here so I can test them too!

I’m tempted to just go buy one so I can get rolling :lau

Oh and yes the turner is on and appears to be working

I didn't start seeing air cells until day 5...

A lot of people drop eggs.
It's best to not mess with them...less chance of having an accident.

So true I almost dropped one egg five times in the 21 days of incubating it. I'm not as hands on this hatch. I just checked the ones that weren't mine today to see if I should chuck them.

Thank you both!! This makes a lot of sense. I’ll leave them then. I just thought I’d read you were supposed to mark air cells and weight before setting or at least air cells and keep track of it throughout the hatch? To make sure it was losing enough weight? And to check shipped eggs to see if any have wonky air cells?

But I don’t want to drop any so I’ll leave it.

Supposedly these eggs are collected Monday and shipped Tuesday so pretty fresh.
