Find your computer and use a Google sheet. You won't stress about hand writing or perfect lines.
Forget notes just get the eggs in the bator before they rot.
I'm going to need to cut up your credit cards too. I see it coming.
I think I'm going to go ahead and fire my bator up right now and set another test batch of quailies.
Please know that I intended no insult in my question. I'm not OCD but I'm crazy analytical and would be doing the same as you - tracking everything so I know what works for me... For example, I've got remote thermometers inside and outside my coop - tracking how much heat the coop holds with all chickens roosting - (12 degree low last night, but coop never got below 39 - so no frozen water inside!) My question was really more about whether the incubator swings in temp when opening, etc would be a non-issue. You guys have got me thinking of buying an incubator...
I would have never guessed you were OCD. LOL!![]()
reminds me of when my kids were born - first kid, over plan everything, second kid...easy as can be, third - barely even worried about anything.
Yes! That's how I was with my kids too.
Looks like I didn't miss anything why aren't the eggs in the Bator yet lol
Once the chicks were out of the eggs, I seemed to calm down a bit with stress and nerves. I've raised several chicks and most of my flock now I raised from chicks.
I candled yesterday and I probably won't candle again till next week.
I will be stressed when I hatch the new ones though because there are 3 weeks separating the chicks. I think I'm going to have to make a divider and let them see each other for a week before I put them together
Im starting to get stressed out over here and it's not even my hatch
shes trying to get everything perfect first
Salt Tests, salt test, OMG, I missed the salt tests...........
Rrrrr it's snowing again this is gonna be a long winter
It's sunny, but cold here. I have southerner blood now, I couldn't hand a winter in New England! I'd need a constant heat lamp. I'd hang in the brooder with the chicks just to heat myself up![]()
My first hatch I was precise with everything and I think it made my hatching experience a little bit stressful...
This hatch I am just going with the flow pretty much and it seems as though my eggs are doing a lot better. I'm not candling everyday and everything seems to be going smoother.
And my humidity is doing great, I did it dry then added only 50 ml of water and it's staying at 35% to 40% without water it's in the 20s.
I still say wicked and drop f bombs like no other. I also have a NE accent whatever that means. That's what people tell me.That is an excellent idea!! I didn’t even think about that haha
I scrapped pages for the dumbest stuff too like the words being too far apart or too close or one being way higher than the other![]()
I was actually pissing myself off with how bad I was last night. I’m normally never that bad.
I even had a few I got pretty far on (like beyond the title LOL) but then I looked closer and realized I hated it.
I’m probably making myself sound psycho![]()
Usually it’s much more under control it’s just I’m also a bit of a perfectionist and get obsessed with it being “perfect” which of course is impossible.
I’m doing that. I just was gonna mark which egg was which ha
Cutting it up won’t do anything if it’s already on the online accounts like Amazon, eBay, PayPal, etc.
Oh no I wasn’t offended or insulted at all!! Sorry if it seemed that way. I know you were just wondering! I just figured I’d explain about the humidity/why some stuff’s important to a point just in case any other new people were reading it. I wasn’t offended or anything, just figured I’d take the opportunity to explain.
I do think you may be right that opening it is not a huge deal. And would probably be fine.
I can’t get my hygrometer to read right but I give up lol

Also the same way with dogs! And chickens.![]()
The first batch I was obsessed, second I threw em out at a week and was like “eh they’re fine!” Lol
Still had a heat source and took care of them of course but just didn’t worry over every single little thing or visit them a ton.
These eggs though it’s frustrating nothing is working right but I’m just gonna set them anyway haha
Sorry, I didn’t have time this morning and then I didn’t get home till almost 2. I’m gonna set them now. I give up trying to get things right lol
I think that’s a good idea.
sorry.
Haha nahhh, I just had to work this morning so I didn’t have time and then I only got back like an hour ago, just finished lunch, and I think I’m going to set them now. Was going to move the incubator to a bit more stable room like the hall but I’m not sure.
But I give up making everything perfect hah
I think I’m just gonna set them now but I’m a bit nervous cause I still don’t have an accurate hygrometer. But I guess I could always test them after I set the eggs ha or put one in and test the other
They’re still not accurate but I give up now lol
I’m not looking forward to it!!

The accent never goes away
It's Wicked Pissa... I stick out like a sore thumb when I talk. Everyone always asks if I'm from Boston. The accent never goes away
