Can you take one picture of a good egg?

I would remove all of these pictured above.
I am 99% they are all not good.

You mentioned a spot that might run hot in the bator.
I have 5 thermometers in my bator right.

It took me a while (a few days) of constant watching to learn my bator.

The idea of rotating the eggs....
Is so they don't sit in one spot too long, I think, like move them daily.

Well CARP! I always hope for the best.
One of the reasons I do candle every day is so I can see, daily, what's going on and know exactly (close enough) as to when one quits so I can try to figure out what happened that day that might have caused the quit...if it was a bator issue.

But I watch my bator like a hawk and keep track of everything.

I think some of them work with rollers so the eggs sort of spin in slow motion.

I agree. I see more early and later embryo deaths with higher temps. Next year if I let any hens hatch eggs it will not happen in July or early August. Hatch rates are just too low with really hot temps.

And Yep, never saw that many losses with temporary drops in temps. Broody hens have figured that out.

And okay. Although I’m still kind of holding out hope for the EE one :hit :fl

I have one on each side, different types and the probe sticking through the vent hole. One side seems hot, one seems cool, but sometimes they all agree or come very close to all agreeing.

And ah okay. I thought it was cause some spots have a lower hatch rate than others? So to give them a better chance?

I think I read somewhere every 3-4 days? So that’s what my plan was but I was late and did it day 5. Carp. Maybe I should’ve moved them daily. :barnie

I can get back up and try to find a good one, the incubator is only in the hall, outside my door, but tbh I’m laying in bed right now. Was gonna go to bed early. Been a long day as it is, was up at 6:30, and then with the eggs, it’s just depressing.

I candle more frequently than recommended for the same reason, both with my Brinsea and with my broody hens. Last season I lost most of my embryos around day 15 and I believe due to high temps.

So far nobody has yelled TURN OUT THE BLEEPIN LIGHT! so until they do I'll carry on.
