I'm in Shelbyville, btw, so between Louisville and Frankfort. Still digging out of the ice storm. Luckily we have power and never lost it, so that's a blessing.

How much snow did you get up there?? We got 10 inches of snow and 1 to 2 inches of ice......UUHHHHH!!!!! Hard to keep water for the birds..have a few nice roos with frostbite. I am so mad.......but not much I can do at present, hope to be set up better next year...

I talked to Mario49's dad. They went to Sano tonight to pick up Quail from Meri or Shelley. I am not sure which, but they said there was alot of people there. I wouldnt have thought anyone would be there. But I am at work so I couldnt go. Just 1 more weekend to work after this one. And I will be there or at least attempt to.

Cindy call me and tell me what all you have. I will definately be interested.

Lots of snow and Ice , I haven't been out of the house for days. We never lost power but the water main burst and was out of water for a short while. My car won't start getting it jumped in the morning, then I 'm out of here!!!!!!!!!!!
Jane the little swap meet I go to every year is in Vevay it was the 17th of May last year. I will get a notice every year, I'll let ya know not very big but kind of fun.

We went last Friday night and there was a bunch of people there...I imagine in the spring the place will probably be packed...we got there around 3:30 and already a bunch there....the only negatives for us were so far to drive ....146 miles, and there were a bunch of kids cockfighting...They kept coming over to look at the Yokohama Roo I took down and he wouldn`t flare his neck feathers out...I finally put them up and told them they couldn`t buy him to fight him....seems my prices were a little high for there too...but I think I have them sold for what I wanted anyway

We went somewhere in Indiana a couple years ago...Mt. Vernon..was a small swap. Yolanda said there is gonna be one in Frankfort in March this year. We go to Milton, Lucasville and one in Troy, Oh. too

Chuck, that is right out by Me, if ya google map it, I am on Toria road (well the corner of Toria and Rowetown). That would be the next road over - you'd maybe be 4 or 5 miles form me at the most - probably less than that. A friend of ours lives over on Chestnut Grove road.

Got to warn ya Chestnut Grove road - the first time I was on it, I thought the road ended and I was on a two track

. It is an interesting road to travel, but the school bus takes that route every day, so I guess for Adair county it isn't a bad road

. Ever seen the movie Ratrace? --- it's a "shoulda bought a squirrel" type road

The area is nice, though, we have great neighbors. The neighbor who lives over off Chestnut Grove is a fireman (Breeding Volunteer Fire Dept.) of course, most of our neighbors are on the BVFD

He's the poor guy who had his whole flock of chickens killed off twice by a neighbors' dogs, though. So ya might want to pen your chickens, and not free range them. I haven't had a problem over here, but poor Matt has problems all the time - last time he trapped one of the dogs in his coop and shot it, then called the owner to come pick it up.
Matt and his wife are young, have a toddler, nice folks. They moved down here from New Jersey or some eastern area.

Your best bet is to come on down and check out the properties. We found when looking for properties that the pictures usually show the best parts, and might not show the driveway that goes through the "usually dry" creekbed or the hills that go up and down at a 90 degree angle and the like

.

All I can tell you is that this is a wonderful area to live - I am still in love with this area and my farm. I feel blessed to have found this place.

eta - if ya look at the pics I took of my farm in the icestorm, you'll get an idea of the lay of the land around here.

Well, in MY opinion there wasn't anyone there! The 'chicken' part of the auction lasted maybe 10 minutes, then the junk part went on for about 30-45 minutes longer. There wasn't anything there. Even most of the goat pens were empty.

It was cold, but not as cold as it was a few weeks ago, and there was more people there then.

And mario49 got the quail from me. Meri only has the ones I traded to her last week.

It was a waste of time for me, but oh well, it beats staying home all the time.
