I moved here from IN way back in '99, then moved back to IN for a while, then back to KY again; on to MO for a few, then back to KY. My most recent trip was to FL for 5 years, but I always seem to end up back here. I guess KY is my home, even though I wasn't born here. When I lived in FL, I would always get 'giddy' when I got into KY (on my few trips to IN to visit family).

I know what ya mean - I had two pregnant donkeys that I waited forever (they stay preg for a year) to see what they'd have or when.

One, sadly, lost her baby, about halfway through her pregnancy (first time mama) but the other had a cute little boy. One other, who was supposed to be pregnant wasn't, but may be now

no idea, she is fat, but not "pregnant" looking - hard to tell with her, she gets hay belly really easy.

I'm still waiting on the gravel - gonna get it, just had a hitch in the plan. Tony had to go out of town for a week, so it got delayed. I can't wait for that gravel - I am hoping it'll solve a lot of my mud problems.

I am afraid to go down to collect eggs today

maybe if I put spikes on my boots....

I live in Elizabethtown and I am new to the world of chickens! We bought 12 acres and built a house on it about 3 years ago. This spring we went to TSC and bought 6 chicks. We had no idea what we were doing so I immediately got on the computer and found BYC. It has been great! We are down to 3 hens now, (gave 3 young roosters with aggresive tendancies away, adopted a RIR from certain death, and recently lost our loving roo to a hawk). I have 1 RIR, 1 White Bantam Silky, and 1 golden laced something, not sure what she is but know she is a bantam. Three get along wonderfully and I would love to have more. It's crazy, cause I could go on all day long about my birds! Move over crazy cat lady, the crazy bird lady is coming to town!

the barred rock was abondened by his mother who hatched him 2 b abondened he sure does a good job being a mother I got him from a friend he was almost dead when i took him in but since i first seen him i have said he was a roo he has a dark face kinda like a roo but i'm sure.

Yuck, this happens to me a lot when I don't wear my boots out to the coop. Sometimes I wear my pajama pants out there at night with flip flops and a whining over tired toddler glued to me. I get back in, think everything is fine, wash my hands, then when I lay down in bed with my kid...something gross rubs on my leg and I realize I'm getting poo mud in the bed and everywhere.

Unfortunately I left my boots out on the porch all summer and they got filled with rain. Do you think they're still ok? They're just rubber boots with a thin cloth lining attached to the inside for friction, I got them at TSC. There's probably frogs and spiders living in them or something.

The 'colors' of the bars is how you can tell, the males will be very white looking, their white bars are bigger I guess. The females are very dark, and it takes them a long time to show any white. I'd say yours is a girl

Don't you hate that? It seems it's always the 'good ones' that just drop dead for no apparent reason

Hey Uncle T, look me up at the Shepherdsville Stock Yard on Saturday.... I'm the soap lady....

I'm going to take my two Pekins to sell this weekend... They're keeping my Scovies from coming into the barn area and sadly we lost one baby duckling because of them... DH said they have to go.... The male is tuffed... Does that still make him a Pekin?? He's all white like the female but has the cotton ball on his head... it is soooo cute...

DS is going to school today and DD still is running a low fever so no school for her... and she loves school so she's quite upset....
