You can't! That link is just to a "taster" of what's in next months magazine. I buy the "paper-version" of that magazine, and when it comes out, I can photocopy it, and send you a copy, if you want? It is only 3-4 years since they last did a buyers guide for Langshan, so I am not quite sure if there will be much news there, but we will have to see. Personally I would advise people: "Dont buy them! They are too addictive".

LOL!!! I would love to read the article, too! We call it a "teaser" over here!

They are addictive! My love for them just keeps growing with the more I collect. I am hoping that my friend with the 10 acre farm gets addicted to them, too! I took 10 boys out to join her field flock last week. She reported back that they are doing well and have fit in perfectly. We are planning on building some breeding pens sometime this winter/spring. I am going to keep the girls here in town until they are laying and the pens are ready. Love my Langshans!

Ah! I read the article and I absolutely know Joe! I've divvied some birds to him! Mostly bantam whites but a few largefowl whites as well.

To me, a Croad Langshan is a bird that can be traced directly from the Croad birds in the UK. None of these birds, sorry Joe if I'm wrong on this, can be traced. The woman referred to in the article requested some eggs from my birds as well, but I can't bring myself to only sell eggs/birds for egg color. Why? Because I can't guarantee the eggs are exactly what the person is after. There is no color chart for the Langshan egg like the Marans egg. What may be plum to one person, may look just a dark brown to another. The other issue with this, is "should the eggs maintain the same color throughout the life of the laying cycle." To me, it should be "Yes." I understand lightening happens in all breeds, but if the breed is known in the US for a specific trait, it should maintain that trait throughout its life. Not just at the beginning of a cycle.

But, that is probably just my wishful thinking. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Don't get me wrong, Joe and I talk about birds from time to time and Lord knows I love to look at his birds! But without proof they line originated from the UK from actual Croad stock, then I, personally, cannot call them Croad. Mine are American Langshans. Do they lay plum eggs? From time to time, but to me, they all look dark brown. At a show, it is interesting to see that some lay light cream and others lay the color that everyone is going ga-gah over.

What male wouldn't like to only have to deal with his girl on a weekend! And for a romantic venture at that?!




I don't know why I do this to myself...I put in 30+ white bantam Langshans into the incubator about 4 days ago. I just candled a few of them...I'm in for a rude awakening in about 2.5 weeks! Lots of chirping to be had! Along with a few bantam speckled sussex that I decided I just "had" to have!

Had a turd of a Langshan bite and attack me tonight. A bantam of all things! I've had more problems with the bantam cockerels being butt-ugly! Never had a largefowl do it but it's like those bantams have to prove something! I almost ended the problem permanently while he was hanging from my hand with his bite...realized I had a small child watching me and threw him back in the pen. He gets a reprieve and ONE more chance. After that...my gloves come off! I don't put up with that EVER.
