Large Fowl Cochin Thread

We have raised many breeds of chickens over the years. I started with one cochin because i just did not "love" any of the others. I have not had a mean or skittish LF Ccohin in the 5 years I have had cochins.

If your 9 year old can lift and handle the bulk of a LF Cochin ( both in weight and show prep) they would be my vote for a beginner. I have a 10 year old son and a 13 year old Daughter. They both do well with the cochins. My daughter has moved on to Ameraucanas and my son to Polish but the cochins remain my all time favorite.


Others have had them much longer and I hope they chime in here for you.

thanks... when i first got her her feet were all messed up so i took her inside put her in a guinea pig cage with a light over it and i brought in my polish chicken to keep her company i guess what was wrong with her was she didnt get enough nutrients when she was with the other chickens (before i got her) but now her feet are all better and she hangs out with her polish friend and keep her warm

she is the biggest chicken in my flock too
