Well I found some nice Welsummer eggs at the Monroe show last Saturday & they are incubating...so the "Phony" Crele Chantecler chicks will have wellies to play with...this will be updated in 6 months !

If you cross the hens from the cuckoo x red back to a red rooster, you will get sexlinks because of the sexlinked barring that the hens have. It will give you mostly barred sons and red daughters from that.
Take the hens from these chicks and mate them to a red roo. That will give sexlink chicks (black females and crele-ish cockerels). Take one of those chicks and mate it to a red hen which should result in all crele
I have a key west hen that looks very similar to this. I crossed her to a key west rooster that is brown red duckwing type pattern and have a nice little barred cockeral. I would like to work on crele key wests even if they aren't an official breed yet lol. They are the hardiest little birds and the best foragers, parents, and lay tons of eggs. I am breeding the barred son back to the mother now. Here are a few of my Crele Old English Large Fowl that I show.

nice birds....... its nice to work on a autosexing breed like these large crele birdsSummer is about over, and I am curious to how everyone's Crele project has gone...if you all could update.
My 3 Chantecler chicks hatched as 2 Partridge (1 male, 1 female) and 1 Crele sport again.
This Crele sport shown here:
Oddly enough, he also sprouted a pea comb, so I have found R/C LBLs to mate to him.
The R/C should correct the combs back to a cushion, and the e locus (sp?) from the LBLs should set them as true Crele....so now I have to go on to stage 2, where I breed these 2 birds together.
Hope you all are doing better than I am !
I may end up with white ear lobes to deal with on the resulting chicks, but that should breed out soon enough, I have been told.
I was going to use Wellsummers, but then I'd still have pea combed chicks.
