Lets talk about goats!

Sorry if I missed something but did you ever get the results back from his abscess? How is he handling being separated? Poor boy.

Should have results Fri. He's doing okay but Stetson is upset. Hes just to rough and always steals the food. Poor Ford is just a nervous wreck. Ford id in entrance of chicken coop so he has company and I let Stetson follow me around untill bedtime and plan on being up and outside right away in am. Just stinks.

I'm sorry :( let us know when your get results....I have one nanny goat that bullies the other nanny over food, but they're five or six years old and she's just the top "dog" :/ I think at this point you're doing all you can for them! So while it's not ideal- they're better of with you than someone else!! And you're a great goat mom.

I was just wondering if it was better to breed them or neuter them. But yes we are breeding them. Is their a way to make them gentle so they're not nasty when they are older?
There have probably been some other answers to this, but I will chime in anyway. My bucks were always gentle with me, In all the years I had goats I never had an aggressive buck. I did have one not-too-bright young buck butt me. Once. Had a little chat with him and he never did it again. You just teach them some basic manners when they are young. Teach them to lead, don't let them run over you, and never tease them or play butt with them or push on their heads. As for nasty, that is another story. Bucks will be bucks. They will smell, pee on their heads, blubber, and spray urine on themselves and you too if you are not careful. That is just the way they are.

Heading to vet now. Should get results. I should have separated them two weeks ago. Ford hasn't stopped eating since I moved him into the coop. I'm not sure if I mentioned it but I made a mix of sweet feed, beet shreds, calf manna, my local co ops home made feed and some raisins then fermented all of it. Added some viamins in water, hay and picked greens for him. Hopefully its not too late. Ugh I'm so nervous

Its cl. I took Stetson in today for checkup too. Think that first vet was a quak. He miss identified the eye issue we got him with and apparently the eye is dead now. Also found a small lump in his neck. Going to try and deal with the cl. Does anyone have any suggestions for anything else I should be doing for him beyond what I've mentioned earlier? Picked up some goat nutri drench and forgot to mention that hes now eating the minerals since separating them. I just can't believe how our first goat experience is going. I'm finally mad enough to contact animal services myself on the woman. I still feel bad doing it but I don't care anymore. This just sucks.

Oh sweetie, so sorry for your experience. If it popped and oozed in your property, I wouldn't get more goats cause it can live in the soil for years. If your happy with these two then just keep them and take care of them. I hope they were free. If not I would demand she pay the vet bills.

No it didnt pop here. Got it lanced at vet two weeks ago. The small one is just failing to perk up and put in weight. I was so worried about them being lonely that I didnt realize he was getting pushed around and stressed out by the bigger one. Just hoping now that he is separated he starts getting better. The lump the vet found in Stetsons (the big pushy healthy apparently one eyed one) is small and hard in his neck and said to keep an eye on it. Didnt plan on getting anymore but hopefully I don't loose the little one. Just not sure if I'm doing all I should be to get him back to healthy.
