Limping hen. Need advice.

She's all set up in her hotel and the other girls have already come to visit. For not getting held very often, she was amazingly calm for treatment and talked to me the whole time. Comb is nice and red, and she immediately started eating when I put her in the kennel. I added some medicated chick feed to her regular feed. I figured it couldn't hurt. Nutridrench to be delivered today. @penny1960, @igorsMistress I wrapped gauze with the salve on her foot after soaking. Change how often?

I would start at 24 to 48 hours depending on how dirty the wrap gets. Don't want germs getting in there.

Just noticed your thread!
Looks like you have received some good advice and your sense for the practical is great. No need for a sling yet. Rest and some love!
If there is no redness or swelling, the salve and Epsom salts will soften the area and any infection will draw closer to the surface of the foot pad.
Should you need to do surgery the video @AllenK RGV shared is great. Tylan 50 can be purchased from your vet. It is injected no more than 1/4 inch into the muscle...either the breast or thigh. Gauging from her size 1/2 cc once a day until the surgery site is dry. This is an antibiotic and will help with any infection pre and post surgery.
If you are uncomfortable giving injections, Fishbiotics makes both penicillin and amoxicillin in capsule form in doses small enough for poultry. You can find this at most feed stores...both Shawnee Feed and S&S Feed carry it. Also Walmart in the aquarium section.

Make sure your wrap is not too bulky or too tight.
You got this! :hugs

Thanks @NanaKat. I always trust your wisdom and hope things are going well with new chicks, remodeling, etc. Stay safe!

Fed her a boiled egg while we soaked and removed bandage. I think the booger also tried to bite me too. I had on gloves because I pulled out soiled bedding before I grabbed her. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you, and she is one to peck if I pet them on the roost. She seems to be standing on it better, and I really don't see any sores, so I left the salve/bandage off for the night. Airing things out always makes sense to me. She got the rest of the egg by the kennel door, and some nutridrench in her water plus I added some more bedding. I'll grab the egg out later this evening if she doesn't finish it.

Forgot to mention @penny1960, your salve recipe made me crave Thai food yesterday. Evil Jungle Curry still sounds delicious!

I am so confused. Did I share a surgical video of my own incompetence? My point was just meant that you do what you think is necessary. Sure my hen lost half her wing and is still alive. It was never meant to be instructional.
