Limping hen. Need advice.

I'll clean them well and re-check. Try to get some pictures. Would it manifest that quickly? I've been outside with them a lot. No limp and then all of a sudden she has her tail down and is limping around. I didn't feel any warmth or swelling last night.
Usually by the time they're limping it has been some time since the injury occurred if it's bumblefoot. The wound started to heal but got infected and that's what causes the pain.

Okay. Salve then wrap? Only if I find something? Thanks guys!
If it's bumblefoot you may need to operate to remove the plug of nasty dried puss, then dress with something that will fight staph, apply a gauze pad and wrap with some self adhesive wrap. It'll require some time and work but if you ignore it she could end up with damage from infection in the bone and/or die.
This is an excellent blog post about it and how to treat

She was eating well, but holding it up this morning. I think the jump down from the roost probably hurt. I'm thinking maybe an epsom salts warm water soak and forced sleeping in a dog kennel for a while. Make sense? Can you give a diluted ibuprofen or something for pain and swelling or does that make them less cautious and prone to injure it more. Dosage info if applicable please.
I believe most use aspirin for pain management in poultry. I never have used it but a forum search would give you a better answer than my fallible memory.

I do like where your thoughts are going here. That girl needs some spa time and a few days at the Hilton away from all the hustle and bustle. She could use a clean bed indoors with the AC and a feed bowl close at hand. I wouldn't go as far as offering her red wine though, maybe HBO. Do not spit your drink out at the screen I was trying to be funny.

I don't share my wine quite that easiy LOL. Not sure she would think inside my house with my "cute" according to @penny1960 puppy who is currently on my $h,, list. (Puppy, not penny) for stealing a large ribeye from the counter before it could be grilled. Belle's main defined job right now is to "keep the chickens off the porch." Not sure how she would treat one in the house. Probably pester her.

Anyway, she seemed to walk better after her soaking. I put iodine on her foot as salve wasn't made yet. If it is bumble foot, it is really early, but it can't hurt to treat for that.

@AllenK RGV I know what you mean about meds and stuff. I have some antibiotics from injecting a "dippity pig" a while back, corrid, and have treated for worms. Haven't head to deal with bumblefoot before, but probably just been lucky. I have had human anatomy with cadaver in college. Might come in handy for "surgeries" and maybe the wine will help too 😂

Is there a place she could go with little to no use of the foot is what he means
a dog crate is ideal
I got that. Just being silly. She is going in a crate in a place of honor....on the porch, so I don't have to kneel in the run to give her food, take her out, etc. If it is bumblefoot, it isn't advanced yet. I'm off for fresh bedding and aloe Vera right now. Is pure aloe Vera necessary?

Miss Bossy Pants was picking on her a little, so I kicked everybody else out of the coop/run while i get her set up. She (MBP) rewarded me by laying an egg in a spot convenient for me. Thanks for all your help!
