What part of the world are you in. I have non-industrial Leghorns and Barred Hollands for white eggs. Are you interested in production breeds or heritage breeds?

Like rjohns39 said, it depends on your goals. If you want a really great egg layer, go for leghorns. If you are more into showing or pets, or just pretty birds, there are lots of options, such as polish.

I'm looking to help out my over a month broody hen
My preference is egg laying, so the non-industrial Leghorns sounds perfect to me

But we're in Central Coast CA, near SLO
