Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Okay, I passed out at 10:30 (danged 5-HTP!!) and missed all of the action. I had to wake up at 12:20 to take DD's boyfriend home and found a damp FBCM which probably exited at 12:01. I could have logged on and taken a pic and yada, yada, but was barely awake, so I just went back to bed.

I have a duckling this morning and some pips- not the banty Cochins, though, which are all wiggling inside but slow to exit- unusual! Hope to get some more Blue Mottleds!

So- now I go back to read through everything- I hit 'post' without refreshing, so I have no idea how many pages I need to catch up on...I'm afraid!

I don't know how you all stand the suspense! I don't even have a bator and I can barely pull myself away from the computer. HMMM... maybe I shouldn't join the Easter Hatch. I'll probably have a stroke

A watched incubator never pips?

I don't know.

I've got my blrw's hatching now... 2 are out and they are disgusting. one is laying on its back like a beached whale and panting. another is covered in some kind of gooey crud and shell fragments.

I have two more out! 9 so far.. Not entirely sure what they are yet. Two BLRW, two frizzled cochin and the rest are a mystery. I think EE or some variant. When all dry I'll post pics for guesses.

Our weather is unreal......5 degrees with wind chill.
Everything is frozen solid and the wind gust are running about 50 MPH.
Headed for the barn in a few and really worried.....................
Hope all is well.they made it last year
We have power........so am grateful for that.
I worried myself sick over my chickens last night and mentally
tried to figure out how I could get them all in the house.
Put out several bales of straw yesterday to put a deep covering on the floor..
Maybe they will be cuddled up......
