Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

I did too! Out of 11 I have 4 developing. BAD rate.... sort of: 1 of the silkies was a newly laying pullet and I wasn't sure if the boys were 'friendly' with her or not. The guineas, I was surprised that ANY are fertile because they just shouldn't have been laying at all!

I'll throw more in the bator for a week later hatch

I checked my 7 Ameraucana and olive eggers, and they're all cookin with gas! I cant see thru the marans eggs this early; they arent all that dark, but its just too early to tell on them.

80 out of 111 have started..not so great with my shipped eggs and my MF pen seems to be on strike right now.
Here a chick there a chick everywhere I look I see a chick

I looked at 2 dozen of them and most all looked good maybes on 2 of them so not bad considering one Dozen of them were shipped eggs that had a broken one Donnie sent me a bakers dozen...so I don't need to look anymore until lock down knowing me sometime I'll look at some more

I love that " incubitis" it explains so much.

I don't know what it is with the PO out here, but ok I'm going to come close to what I've spent since April. This is give or take a couple of hundred.

What I had written down and then stopped in July was $825..........I've bought probably another $600 worth since. May only be $450-$500. I've had 17 hatch!

Must be why I'm so broke now. I just couldn't stop. Kept trying to get something to hatch. Get a little money, pay bills, buy eggs.

Denny I'm kind of hoping to get me some PRs out of this. I used to have rocks, but didn't like their personalities. But man those birds laid. My Dom I used to have was my best layer though and still laying almost daily at her new home.

I think I'll add a pic later and see if any of you think I have a Lav AM pair. Plus Jean can see the babies. The other one from the hatch is penciled or laced on black. I love this chick. Keeping if a pullet. I lost my straddle legged one though. Nothing I did helped.

Thanks, I've never built anything in my life. I had guidance from my DH though. Lots of curse words, smashed fingers and blood went into it.

Uh Oh, your fingers and blood? or his???? i'M the one always accident prone, in our duo. LOL Be careful...Love, hugs and prayers to y'all! Nancy

The husband instructed, and helped on the stuff I couldn't do myself. Otherwise, that coop is the product of MY smashed fingers and blood. I'm just happy it's DONE!

Bob's Henhouse :

re: incubitis and the # of chickens. IMHO, if you are still counting them, you don't have enough.

No kidding. The last time someone asked how many chickens I have, it took me a couple minutes before I could figure out how many.

So, what exactly are you saying Bob?

Because I stopped counting over a year ago.

Illlia.......I candled all of mine. (couldn't resist after Mary saying how easy white eggs are to candle) I have 6 not developing. Everything else is cooking beautifully. All mine are fertile, so I'm happy about that!

Raven and Luvanimals............so sorry. Try not to beat yourself up, could happen to anyone.

dsqard.......The top one is definitely developing. The bottom looks to be as well, although it's tougher to tell. If I could see it in person, I could tell you in a second.

wolftracks......2011 has got to be a better year for you!

And Mary has TONS of Icelandics growing out for the Stockton show in January, so I'm sure she'll have extras.
