Baby Polish are doing great!!! Baby Barred Rock is still breathing heavy but less so. Definitely walking better with the straw/elastic set-up. He eats, drinks, and barrels his way around. He loves being snuggled with DD. Oh boy!!!!

Baby Silkies are 5 wks and lone Baby Buff is a month. They look like monsters compared to the week olds!!!

Lock down Saturday for Dominique eggs. 4 blood rings, a few ???? And some really good ones so I am very excited! !!!!

That incubation period went by quickly! Hoping for a nice little batch of Doms!!!

I went out at 5:30 this morning to rearrange the accommodations for the chicks. I moved the big tractor closer to the hoop coop, put up a chicken wire divider inside so the chicks have access to a 4 x 8 area under the loft, and can come and go freely into the tractor. (fencing bridging the span between the 2 structures.) Chicks are much happier. Hopefully, getting the chicks into the coop will make integration go better. I got the electric fencing up, but not charged. The hens were grazing mouthfuls of grass like they were cows! As soon as the garden is fenced in, I can resume allowing the hens some free range time.

The meat birds are almost as big as the hens now. And the little BSL (EE x PBR) pullets are finally growing into respectable birds. They're pure black, but don't have the beetle sheen that my other BSL (RIR x PBR) has. I think their feathers are getting a bit brighter now. Their feathers are super soft. One of the little roosters attacked me when I pushed him back into the tractor tonight. He'll make a tasty little meal.

Good luck, quailtrail!!

@CoopChick719.I've never had any issues getting them, nor have I ever heard anyone having a problem getting them from my local stores. But a Mainer posted here a few posts back that she was denied in her store. Goodluck with yours!

Thanks BOA!! Didn't get down today. Work has been crazy! Will let everyone know how I make out.

.
Good luck with the hatch!!!

Started cleaning out the deep litter in the coop so I can move the chicklets out of the garage. The big girls were not liking it too much! They wanted to go to bed! So I only got a 1/4 of the coop cleaned. So much to do; so little time before we head to camp this weekend.

Hey Mainers!
We're brand new here and just got started with our first 3 Barred Rock chicks. Picked them up today and after eating, drinking, and basking in the warmth of their new heat lamp, they're fast asleep. We're in Bridgton right now, but we're moving to our new place in Waterboro in a couple of weeks. Poor kids had to bounce all the way up 107 to get home. They did like today's sunlight, though!

Glad to be here. I'm sure we'll have a ton of questions soon!

Hey Everyone, It's been a looooong while! I had a very busy semester- Student teaching and working was a little more time consuming than I thought it might be, but now I have graduated, found a job and can spend some time catching up on everything else! All of the chickens are doing well, everyone made it though the winter. Only minor issue was bumblefoot on my big white plymouth rock, but we successfully removed it and she's doing awesome. Now to tackle the veggie garden, I shamefully must admit that it's full of weeds and has not yet been tilled :(

Welcome back Kelly!
This is the time of year where I start to feel overwhelmed with the apparent jungle growing around me. We still have a lot to do with our garden, coop, lawn, etc.
I still find plenty of other ways to distract myself
