Hi San Paulo,
Hatch them out and see what happens.

At this point, if they're developing, you will be culling
live beings whether they are pre or post hatch.

So ride it out and see if you have any which
are proper chicks.

Waste not, want not.

Tropical Plant Freak with Marans: blk tailed buff,
Have you got an extra male from a dark egg you might want to sell or lease out to me?

BCMs are usually pretty late to start laying. Mine didn't start until 31 - 36 weeks so a year old should be prime time for your girls!!

Stick with this thread and you will learn LOADS!!! Welcome to the wonderful world of Marans!!!

Feb 19.... OMG, IT seems like FOREVER away!

It is not helping that our highs the last few days have been in the low 70's!

The show is the 18th, are you going to set on the 19th? I am planning on going.... getting more eggs.... OMG I forgot I have more eggs coming

Need to sell some soon

It depends on how well my ladies lay right before I leave for Newnan. If the weather cooperates and the girls are laying, then I will leave the eggs sitting on an egg turner while I am gone and will set them as soon as I walk back in the door. If the girls are slacking due to a nasty cold front like we had a week ago, then I will have to wait and start collecting AGAIN when I get back home.

When the temps dropped below 32 a week ago, I got 6 eggs from 10 hens over a 5 day period! That sucked!

OR you could just set eggs now then take chicks to sell at the show..its all good LOL.

THESE are NOT to SELL! I am hatching for me ! I do have some that I need to test hatch, but I don't want to sell at the show.
I want to ENJOY, look around, talke pics, and hey maybe even buy some eggs to come back and hatch LOL

I hope you can go so you can find some cuckoos.

Let me know if you want me to bring back some eggs for you. My car will be full with the family and a friend so I can't bring back chickens....BUT I could bring back eggs for you.

I would Toss them and start again. You are feeling bad now because one was developing...

How are you going to feel when they hatch with bent legs and other issues. I speak from experience here....
Spikes in temp will cause issues. The chick may hatch and then you may have to cull it any ways.

START FRESH! You want to KNOW that any issues that show up are the result of the genetic material in your flock NOT issues with the incubators.
Raising chickens takes too much time and money to set yourself up for problems.... START FRESH!

Still do not know there age, but they seem healthy. I have a question about supplying greens. Supposedly they should have some in their diet, but after offering several lettuces, kitchen vegies, etc. they don't show any interest in them.
Is this a big deal or should I try something in particular? Thanks.
