I feel better....

Were you ill? Or is it the white feather?

Regardless, feeling better is a good thing. Glad you are feeling better.

Good morning all

Well, if the weather isn't bad enough, now my computer is on the fritz. Last night it just went wonkers on me, and started shaking and none of my clicks would work?? Me thinks I may have some chicken dust in there

so I'll be taking it apart today to try to remedy the situation.

Randy ~ Read your PMs, there are 2 new ones. I don't know how much longer the computer will work!

Pink ~ White feather?? I laugh! Much rather have that problem, and DO, than the dreaded combs!! Some of my white feathers are now showing up on nearly 2 year old birds that never had them before! Hormones?? Age process??? Genes???

Something to work on, but how do you know who will have them 2 years down the road?? Very frustrating for sure!

So foggy out today....but at least it's not snowing!!

Vicki - try that Windows Live thing, when you get a chance - pretty please!

Kids are so inventive. Don't ask me how these pics turned out so nicely. My 16 year old was the cameraman this this time, my 12 year old lighting director. I walked into the kitchen and asked them what they were doing with the poster board propped against the fridge. They said. "Photo shoot". I ask them ""why here?" They said "lightning's good". And that's their professional studio. ...lol!
Whenever I post a boring picture....you'll know it's one of mine.

Oh my gosh those are the cutest chick portraits I have ever seen. Your son should do that professionally! lol

The white feather thing. I've got that going on too in one rooster. He just turned 1, and the white feather just showed up. I wonder what's going on? And he's such a nice rooster.

I've had white feathers show up on mine too, only to fall out after a while. It seems like one pullet has developed them at the tip of one wing. Swear they weren't there two weeks ago.

On a brighter note I have the upper half on my brooder/hatcher ready to go with only some cosmetic stuff with the wires to finished. It's heated with four feet of 11" Flex Watt at the bottom and sides. I reversed the original freezer fan so that it draws the air inward from the top and out by a fresh air vent at the back. Takes a while to get to temp, but holds it pretty well. If my measurements are correct, I'll be able to use three racks comfortably. Next I have to get serious about the breeding pens.

I have been sooo busy lately!

It all started with a new rooster.

I just had to have a wheaton Ameraucana. Then, when I showed up at Huckleberry Farms to pick him up....we found these adorable little chicks.

Of course, I just had to bring them home, too.

Now hubby has to build another little chicken coop for me to raise these guys (and the two wheaton Ameraucana chicks I just couldn't leave without). Uhm...so if you go to pick up one rooster and come back with 6 chickens...is that chicken math?

These are both wheaton marans (pullets, we hope)

This is Miss Smarty Pants (she was the first to learn that my hand in the box meant treats!)

And Miss Unnamed...
