I don't think that price will hold for long. She is just the only one so far selling CCL.... that is going to change pretty soon.

haha, Google man!LOL.

Yeah, that price is just ridiculous. Good on ya! I bet yours will be better any way.lol. Just make your chicks $5 less than hers and you will get all her customers.lol.

There is a big problem within the "Maran" community of American breeders! Kind of reminds me of the old dog food commercial "My dog is better than your dog".
After all when we started with our flock we got all of the so called best names from the best lines, years latter still hatching clean legs and so forth.
I read something on line a few years ago that someone did not want to see a splash/blue/copper=red, white and blue, and I said to myself why not? Also in keeping a few of those birds that some may cull we have been getting some hens that are laying an egg that is not chocolate? it is more like a purple-ish, plum, mauve egg!!!
Imagine if way back in France the first hen that layed a dark chocolate egg was put in a stew pot.... because....
?
Just because our kennel club does not recognize a red tick coon hound does not mean it will not track as good as a blue tick. The same is true of chickens.
We have a pullet with severe curled toes from a hatch last Fall she is laying a 7 or 8 regularly.
So I am gonna post a picture of the bird someone did not want to see....

After seeing your picture do you have any idea of what a sprig is relating to the Comb ?

Lot of opinions here for new breeders
Great! It looks like I'm starting over this year, and have 11 BCM's from three different breeders growing quickly. I'm hoping I'll end up with something I can start with, but I'm just starting to learn what to look for. Already it's obvious that 3 out of 4 from one breeder have clean legs, and many that I bred are showing mossiness. Are these things that I should immediately cull for or can they be worked with if other things are good? It seems hopeless at this point, but Don's previous post about getting started encouraged me a bit -- maybe it shouldn't have, though?

the easiest way is to post some photos of stock with a front, side and top shot of each if possible and ask for some advice on them if you are wanting some honest answers. Its hard to give advice without seeing what you have to work with.
