Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Ok, another bad pic. Chicks are POed today. Stupid feed store ran out of shavings!

That's what I get for living in Podunk. Darn well better be in tomorrow. At any rate, here are all the combs and wattles. I'm definately seeing three roos, one could go either way at this point. I say that because of his/her Sparrow-like legs. The 3 I do see as roos have legs like tree stumps! Of course, the Splash, that I wanted to be a roo, is a pullet!

They are 4 weeks old today, and in that Gawdawful-ugly stage! All have very decent shank/toe feathering, except for the sparrow-legged one, they are very sparse.

Just goes to show anyone can have the "Educator" badge.

Well, that's not so. If that were true, I'd have one. I don't know squat, but evidently, you do!

Must be someone that likes me, or is putting a spell on me. Will have to start acting more high headed now, will have to watch out for rain.

I really like the looks of one of the boys. He is already an alpha type, very curious, very upright, and friendly. I hope he will be a keeper. Now, if the combs all pan out...

What's hatching??

Some test eggs from Gnarles and some of Lil' Bill's first eggs and some Barnevelders and some Welsummers and hopefully 2 of the first generation blue laced Barnies.

The combs on the Gnarles testers in the 'bator better pan out or the end is near for Gnarles. (I just can't see feeding extra cockerels/cocks right now that I don't necessarily have to have around

The 2 that the broody hatched are looking good so far at nearly 3 weeks old. One cockerel the blue and the other, a BCM, is a pullet. Comb on the male is not funky....yet.
