We have 1 little chick! Two more should be here soon. Hopefully. Kinda worried when this little one hatched she knocked one of the other two and it rolled so now the hole it chipped is facing down. Should I get in there and re set it facing up?

All 8 of our eggs are hatched, fluffed up and look like survivors. I'm so relieved. Yesterday was a tough day! The first four hatched like champs on Friday night. The next four we ended up assisting each one with greater difficulty as we went. They were all shrink wrapped and unable to move and I'm so glad we chose to help them. First we gave it 24 hours after their external pip, but there was nothing. I felt like we would lose all of them if we didn't help, and they were peeping back to us and each other. So much for don't get attached, haha. When I checked the incubator this morning where the last two were drying overnight I was so sure one was dead. It didn't move at all while the other was greeting me and flapping around. Then I turned the light on and it stretched and got up to join.

Mmanist- I want NN!
That little chick has been through a rough start. It started under a broody hen, at a friend's house. She said her hen left it since the others hatched. So she brought it, for my broody to finish off. Well my chicks hatched, and then I found it cold one morning, because my hen left it. So I texted her and asked if she wanted to give it one last chance. And put it in my incubator. Sure enough 4 days later we have a cute showgirl cross! It's a tough little thing, probably a rooster lol 😆

Not exact count, think 17 or so hatched, but no silkie hatch yet hummmm had this problem last hatch 90 percent on large eggs. 20 percent on silkie eggs. 8 hatched chicks in incubator drying, hectic in incubator.
Some more pipped see 1 alive not sure of others. Hard to keep track. I have some eggs in cut out egg carton slow down the mayhem.

We're on day #12 now
Did some more candling, and it's starting to look like I'll only get three chicks from this time around.
None of the remaining shipped eggs look to be where they should be in terms of growth and development. Sad, I really thought I'd get a couple of chicks, but I think the handling during shipping was too harsh or the temperatures too cold. Nothing anyone could have done about it.

Three of the four from my yard look good (last didn't develop at all). I love seeing the appenzeller mix, it's my first white egg to be incubating and I can see much detail and movement inside. I swear tonight I saw the little feathers starting to come in.

I'm wondering when I should think about removing any clear eggs or eggs with poor development.
So sorry about your shipped eggs, they are always such a gamble. 😞
White eggs are so awesome to candle. You can see everthing!
I usually toss my clears day 7, though I think most wait until day 10. 😊

I had 2 of mine do that. They figured it out without my intervention.

I plan to put some eggs into the incubator today. Is it too late to join the March hatch-a-long, or would I need to wait for an April one? I really wanted to join the Easter one, but had to wait until my cockerel started fertilizing the eggs before doing a hatch. He's getting it done now and the eggs have nice bullseyes.
There is an April hatch-a-long just started would recommend joining that one, as your eggs willl be hatching in April.

I would, but others would not. 😊
