What day are you on?

Day 21 was yesterday at 1pm. It's now 11pm.

I just checked and I think my last 3 may have died. At least one I am pretty sure is a blood ring. Another I'm leaning towards blood ring. The third I can't see into. It's a green egg.

Overall it's healthy acting, it's alert when it hears noises, it climbs up on the feed dish, it just acts like it has no energy and literally will doze off after doing about 30 seconds of anything. It's a little wobbly when it walks but not terrible. I let it peck the scoop and it ate what it pecked I poured the rest mixed with the feed for all of them and then I made sure it got a drink to wash it down.

Mine crash out asleep frequently too. They take varying amounts of time to gain strength and some are weaker. I hope it hangs in there and overcomes the slow start.

I know the chances are slim but they are still within the realm of possibility.

We have a chick! It's 1:30 am here, and it is chirping up a storm here. The incubator is in my bedroom. Hopefully, my husband doesn't wake up. He won't be happy.

Final tally, 30 of 32 hatched. Not a bad hatch rate for my first time. Very impressed with the Genesis 1588 bator. First one popped out early on day 21 and the last one hatched sometime yesterday (day 23) while I was at work. This concludes my March hatch, good luck to all those still waiting on chicks to hatch.

Yesterday, I had a d'uccle and a sultan hatch, so I had to quickly move around all my pens so that they would have somewhere to go. They were supposed to hatch today, but I'm not going to complain. Also, I hear peeping in the incubator, so I know more are on the way.
Two days ago, I put some more eggs in the incubator and candled the week-old ones and had to throw two d'uccle eggs that were infertile and a goose egg that had a crack in the end. Another goose egg doesn't seem to have development, but I'm going candle within the next couple of days to make sure before pitching it.

Oh definitely, I plan on breeding and hatching my own birds in a few months and bought fertile eggs from a farm close by to do a test hatch. Very encouraged by the results although I know a 94% hatch rate is not the norm.

Well, another d'uccle hatched not long ago and one of my cemani crosses is pipping.

I have one pipped egg that got rolled twice. Should I roll it back to the original position? My humidity is high enough it shouldn't be a problem to open the coop. I just worry about the chick getting out now. Have any of you had this happen?
