March Hatch-A-Long

First candle report, and it is a doozy!
Six Faverolles eggs from my hen Rene all very obviously wiggling inside.
SS Ethel's egg, wiggling.
Dominique Hobo, wiggling.
Ameracauna Susan, can't tell a darn thing egg is too dark but will try again in a few days.
Delaware Marlene, think hers is a dud no obvious signs of development but it will be retried too.
Soooo eight out of ten are just wiggling their hearts out.:)

Nice!
Sure hope the wigglers keep going strong for you!

Must be a bacterial issue if so. So sorry hon. Hope you get a couple.

The eggs were seriously scrambled when I got them, so odds have always been against me. I did find one that was really stinky (stick your finger in your belly button. Wiggle it in deep. Pull out and sniff. That's the exact smell. I have no idea how I know this.) It Aldo had I think mold on it. Two now have giant blood rings, another two or so I think are breaking down. I've not seen movement in any other eggs, but the wonky air cells make it hard to see. Still hoping though!!

Yeah shipped eggs are always a total crapshoot. I had 27 in another group 0 hatched. Had 23 ( plus one glued cracked one) in this one and 14 made it to lock down. Only one blood ring and 2 or 3 quitters rest were non starters.

Over achiever chick! Pipped last night at 8:30, and hatched at 6:18, 3 minutes after my alarm went off, so I was able to see it! Today is only day 20, and only 2 others are pipping. Must have spent most of its incubator time in a warm pocket it was a perfect hatch, no blood and a very active chick! Bring on the babies!!
