Mille Cochin Info

I'm in Ocala, and as soon as a few more grow up a little more, I will have to pick and choose who is staying and who has to go. As of now, I have 6 grown hens/pullets, 7 youngsters growing up and several more that just hatched....so they can't all stay. I also have a pretty consistent supply of eggs, so let me know if you are interested in those, as well.

You can see some of my birds pictured at the "bantam chickens" link on my website.

Wonderful! I go to Ocala at least twice a month. Please do let me know when you decide to get rid of a few. I'd like a few more hens and probably one more roo.

I'm off to go look at your pics.

Sorta confused me on this thread but yes, I still have the Birchen roo. I have not even thought about hatching from him this year but when his ladies go broody I will let them hatch. I have several of his daughters from last year that are Birchen but they are not flashy like he is, of course. Super sweet personalities to the point of tripping you up for want of love and petting. None mind being handled and are excellent layers. I hatched from the smaller hens I crossed him with so I could have smaller Cochins. I have some standards so big they take up several feet on the roosting boards. Love them but not enough room for huge birds and to pick those up for examination is rough on my old body!
Email me and we can talk about it, if you like.
And thank you for the compliment.

But I finally got a few pics and wanted to share them. They do not like to stand still though! lol

They are all absolute sweethearts! Hopefully I can get some better pics once they learn to stand still lol. I also have a Buff girl and a black Mottled girl in with this group, to improve on type.

Cockerel #1 (the one I just got) seems to be a bit older than my group of juvies, so I am guessing he might be closer to 3 months. Cockerel #2 and all 3 girls were born 2/25/10, so they just turned 2 months. Only the first 2 pullets are around 6 months old.

The chick hatched on 3/29

I really like pullet #2. I think she would be a perfect girl to cross back to your milles. She is from my nice typed roo that was silver. Her rusty streaks are a good sign. That's why I always hate getting rid of chicks!

Deb, I may have to borrow her at some point.
