Mixed breeds

Bummer. I knew he had to be some sort of mix since Ive never been able to find any examples that looked like him, but I was hoping for some kind of an idea. I think hes lovely and Id love to have some pullets with his coloring. Alot of my chickens are dark and I want some more bright splashes pecking about!

This little bantam hen is his mate(although he doesnt seem to be having any trouble "associating" with my standards either which is what got me wondering about offspring possibilities in the first place) Shes mixed like him Im sure but So pretty.

Your male carries at least one silver allele so he should produce some female silver offspring (white looking). The females he produces will not have plumage like him because males usually have a different plumage color than females. He has some kind of restriction so some of the female offspring will be restricted also. What you get depends on how may chicks you hatch. If you hatch 20, you should get a good variety to pick from but if you hatch 2 you may not get any silver offspring (white looking).

So theres hope yet! Ill cross my fingers for plenty of eggs that make it to hatch! Ive got some light brahmas and EEs, maybe a few of their eggs will be fertile and raise the odds of that silver gene coming through! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions, I really appreciate it! :)

I think that mixed breeds are perfect hens, and beautiful too. I have a Wyandotte and Australorp cross hen. She has the body, comb, and short legs of the Wyandotte, but the color of the Australorp. She lays beautiful large, dark brown eggs. She has a good temperament, like that of the Wyandotte. She is an all around great hen.

The light brahma would be a good cross with him.
