Mixed breeds

We use our Sessexs for meat and eggs so figured we could do the same with the mixes. We don't need a lot of meat on them, just as much as the average sussex is fine. I'd love to see pictures of him. Do you know if it was a Sussex father and red star mother? Our eggs didn't hatch since we had issues with humidity so we set another batch to hatch. This time we included white leghorn/Speckled Sussex eggs to use for eggs.

His name is Strut and his daddy was a Speckled Sussex. He looks and acts just like him except for the coloring of course.

Thanks. When he hatched he had the chipmunk markings like a SS except the colors of the marks were red and the rest was a white.

Very beautiful rooster. Are you going to use him for breeding? Try him back to Sussex hens.

here is one of our chicks that hatches today. Speckled Sussex rooster over Red sex link hen. Looks alot like a SS chick. Have another SS/RSL that piped and is working on zipping, it appears to be more RSL colored than SS but only time will tell

Our chick Lucky, the only one who made it. She is 5 days old now She looks just like an SS chick except she is more red. She is a Speckled Sussex/ Red Sexlink.

She will have a few Silkie friends in a week

Cute. that's just how all of mine looked. The females are good layers now. The rooster we have looked like them only with red and white chipmunk markings.

Here is Lucky after some feathering. Believe these were taking at 10 days old. She has more feathering now, she is 2 weeks old today.

I am hoping for a girl. What did the females look like when they got older?
If she's a female we can put her in with any of the flocks. But its a boy then we would have to make a flock of its own.
