I've been trying to figure out a design with multiple runs, so the grass can grow in the runs they're not in and then move them from run to run with fresh grass. This is a definite brain teaser.

OK. This is exactly what I am doing. There are two ‘uncovered runs’ (meaning no roof) and I can close them off in turn. The idea is to sow pasture seeds and let them grow and then let the chickens in to destroy it all. I can alternate. I will share in the next ‘Chicken Palace tour’.

Yes. I am not sure if mine are big enough. Each one is 12’x4’. There are two and I can alternate. And of course they also get to come to the veggie garden to work with me at weekends.

That'll be my saving grace too, foraging in the garden.

By the time all ghis goes ahead, the chooks will no longer be "confined" to the back patch. It's a huge patch, so it's hardly a confinement.

I've started some shell ginger in a corner of the extension to be. It's almost indestructible by chickens once it's established & they love to shelter in it!

The other thing of note that happened yesterday was I started sketching Cluckerston Hall. Only I did it wrong, so I'll do it again today.
