An update on my soft shell eggs. The avian vet had no appointments left before Christmas but was amazing spending time with me on the phone and telling me what to do with no payment required. Since then I have not had another soft shell egg and all 4 ladies are now laying!! Such an exciting Christmas present!! It turns out I thought I was doing the correct thing by feeding lots of fruit and veg leftovers from the house. I thought this would be really healthy for them but vet told me to stop for awhile so they only have the layer pellets and to add calcium with Vit D to their water every day for a week and then once a week after that - problem solved!! Not many vets would take time on the phone at such a busy time of year. I was impressed and thankful. I now know that ‘treats’ include household scraps not just meal worms, wheat and corn so will provide in small amounts occasionally. Thank you all for your support and setting my chickens on a healthier path. It is a steep learning curve!!

Most definitely not!
He would be completely mortified if you cuddled him.
I can touch his beak if I ask nicely and give him a piece of walnut as compensation.
Tribe 2 (that's the tribe in the pictures above) are not cuddle chickens, none of them. Lock might let me pick her up without a fuss as might Bracket, but the rest, forget it.

Punch is indeed a very fine looking fellow, and I certainly have it in me to be a fan of more than one rooster. That said, one of Treacle's attributes I love is his relationship with you. There is more to a guy than looks!

Those are the best pictures of punch I have seen. He certainly is a looker as well. I'm not sure I can judge one as more attractive than the other.
