Just replace the eggs when she gets off the nest to eat, dustbathe, and poo. They do not notice. Sydney's brown eggs suddenly had a green one added. She was good.No I never have.
I was thinking of giving a couple to a broody in a year or so depending on how determined they are. After the last 6 weeks or so I'd say Edwina and Pepper are pretty determined!
I thought I'd probably have fake eggs in the nest for a few days before and just slip the real ones under her an hour or so after dark and take away the fakes.

Make sure to mark the eggs you give her and remove any unmarked eggs that appear.
Remind me - do you use anything like an app to keep count or are you doing marks on a paper calendar like I do.
My friend Louise gave me a perfect chicken notepad with a magnet on the back and it stays on the fridge with a pencil handy.
I feel vindicated with my pencil and calendar in the Chicken Palace.
A calendar would be very helpful for viewing the breaks at a glance whereas I need to read my notes to gain a picture of that.
