MJ's little flock

I've got both nest box trios on the ground now.

And the one with the double berth is now in the corner. This is the one I'll adapt for brooding.

is she very heavy, or is Ivy's eggshell a bit thin, or was it just caught between a rock and a hard place?
She's a large hen, which would be a factor, but more importantly she had managed to expel both of the false eggs from the nest. They're wooden and heavier than real eggs, so that task would've been awkward and called for some effort. I assume that's when she put her foot through Ivy's egg.

Ivy's shells are not especially weak. I'd say her shells are quite strong. I often take two attempts at cracking them.

that would explain it. I have a hen who routinely expels fake eggs from the nest box; funny how some just don't like to share the space with anyone else's eggs, while most here think the more, the merrier.

It is strange. Edie hadn't expelled Ivy's egg, so I assume it's only the wooden ones she can't tolerate.

Whereas Ivy's been ambivalent to the wooden eggs for weeks now.

Just taking time to whinge...

I'm replacing my car at present. I don't like buying cars without an independent inspection. So in the past, I've bought inspections from the RAA. They're reliable and they're willing to inspect at the sellers home. Easy peasey.

Until a seller says, "I advise you to save your money. The car has been serviced."

Riiiiiiiight.

If they don't want their car inspected, why don't they just say so?? Decline the inspection and I will move on to the next car on my list.

Instead, it's back and forth with me insisting and them pretending they have another buyer and me saying hey no problem, wish you well and them saying well an inspection is inconvenient and me saying they come to your home and them saying I'll have to check my availability and me saying hey, no rush, when you're ready.

:barnie

For crying out loud, just say an outright No or an outright OK!!!
