Hi there,
I have a chick that hatched this morning and it can’t walk properly. It appears as though it has a broken left leg or some implication regarding it’s left leg. It’s leg sits out sideways and it appears as though it can’t put any weight on the leg. The chick can limp around but it’s leg is sideways. What might be wrong? How can I help the chick?

This looks like splayed leg keep them on a old towel or something grippy so they can’t slip to much
Make sure their waters not to deep maybe add some clean stones so they don’t drown
To fix it you can use a elastic band or a hair tie with a small piece of straw in the middle in a figure of 8

Vetwrap (cohesive bandage) fixes this great, they can't remove it but it's easily removable by you, it doesn't stick to their feathers either.

Hello! It is not likely that the leg is broken, to me it just looks like they are splayed!

this is very common with chicks and with patience and effort can be helped! You will need to get crafty and built some support for them!

Here’s a link below to an article that talks you through some options.

good luck - please keep us updated!

Hi there we made a brace and put it on the chick he has a lot more strength in his good leg but still doesn’t seem to be able to put pressure on the bad leg do I need to put the brace back on?
