my baby chick's crop is full but she keeps eating

my 4 week old chick's crop is very very full and slightly hard but not in a concerning way. her crop is REALLY full yet shes still trying to eat. is this okay?

Chicks eat a lot, their crops become full, they poop, they eat again. At 4 weeks, she should be sleeping the whole night, unless you still provide light for her. If she is having a full night's sleep, check the crop first thing in the morning before she eats/drinks, it should be empty.

Lol don't know this happened to my rooster tootoo maybe he liking he's feed too.much nowadays he eat like happy kid eating his meal

Sounds normal for chicks and teenager and if u read my rooster eat like that lol
If the crop works good , pooping good (crop should be flat lat e in morning) there's nothing to worry
Give grit for good digestion


I use white granite grit that works very good
Once u give granite grit u see chickens will poop big and nice

it just looks like a normal full crop so visually, nothing worrying. she actually sleeps in my bed with me so shes not stressed or cold or lonely ever. i think shes just a bit of a snob lol. i just got concerned that her crop may get too full and something might go wrong. im new to owning chickens so im a bit paranoid about everything like a new mother and i wanted to be sure. shes pooping fine

If u notice very full remove her feed so her digestive system rest ND start digesting

Great only give few like 10-12 pieces
I know some says to put a bowlful and they eat it but it's risky some eat so much and can block them so only give few it will work for chicks

At 4 weeks, she is ready to be outside in a coop/run where she can be with other chickens, enjoy the sunshine, take dust baths, etc.

I would also make poultry grit (crushed granite) available free choice. Watch to see that she is eating her chick starter very well and drinking. Limit treats in youngsters to about 5% of their daily intake since they need their balanced feed to grow healthy and strong.

its just her and i plan to keep her as an inside pet, going outside a lot of course but kinda like a dog lol. i had been told that she might get depressed without other chicks but then i also saw that if i raise her on her own, she'll consider humans her flock and ive been observing her behavior and it seems that has happened so shes all good without any other chicks. shes very happy with me
