My duckling was panting today in middle of brooder! I’m worried sick! Please help!!

Aaaah, okay well I’m going to pick up a thermometer today for them. Week two they should be at what temp?

I think people say 90 degrees for the first week, then reduce 5 degrees each week after.

Okay so I’ll put them on 85 degrees for the second week!

I generally go a bit cooler. 90 can work for the first few days but I often lower to 85 by the weeks end. Than 5 degrees less each week until you reach ambient temperatures. I personally use whatever cheapo outside thermometer I have on had.

Yeah I think I might not use the pine shavings anymore. I read that it could cause their tummies to expand from eating small amounts of shavings...

I like to wait till they are older. They usually only nibble on it and spit it back out.

I posted a pic of the brooder and raised the lamp by 2 inches right now. I’m going to go out to buy a thermometer but from your perspective, does it look okay?
