I know what this sounds like "I'm not taking care of them properly" but I can assure you that I am outside with them constantly and they get great care. The chickens themselves are healthy but they look so bad - missing feathers, bald spots etc. I've done everything, blue dye, anti peck, bigger space, free ranging and none of these helped. Even after they molted and looked all pretty it only lasted a week or two before they went back to their bald butts. I've given them toys, treats, and more and they seem bored. Any ideas? Also, their feathers grow back EXTREMLEY slow so if I do find entertainment and stuff can I help feather growth?? Anything helps xx

All the previous posts are very good. There are many causes that could make your flock look bad. One more thing I can add, my flock looks pitiful every Fall. They are molting, missing feathers all over and they lose weight eventhough they get feed 24/7 they just eat less due to the extreme summer heat.

Thats the thing, they molt and look beautiful in the fall and then they decide to pick feathers and then they dont grow back until the next fall. Its like they are addicted to picking feathers but nothing I do is helping.
