my gander is bleeding from his leg help please

No my duck is a Cayuga but have not found any signs of her at all. She was probably a good 7 or maybe 8 pounds. I'm not sure what could of happened. My gander is doing pretty good. He doesn't like being away from his friends and family though. He hears them outside and keeps calling out to him. He's very loud but I feel so bad for him at the same time. I have acv in his water right now too. I think I'm going to see if a mirror will help him. I have 4 ducklings in the house right now too but he seems to not care much about them. I do have them separate otherwise he would kill them. I just feel bad that he calls to his flock whenever he hears them. But other than that he is doing good. I have applied neosporin a few times to his wounds. His legs are warm but I'm not sure if that's because its warm inside or because it is infected. Both legs feel the same warmth though.
This time of year preds are moving around even in day light and a fox, Coyote, weasel etc Dog could pick your duck up and run off with it not leaving one feather behind. I'm so sorry to hear this happened but I believe this may explain what happened the pred could have been after your goose and the goose managed to get away but got wounded in the process, What ever it is knows you have food for the taking, I'd keep your flock penned up till you trap and kill what ever this is or I'm afraid you will lose more. If the wound is looking good and not healing to quickly remember it needs to drain then maybe not antibiotics but you are there and can see how it looks.

So sorry for not giving updates. Been very busy. I must say I love my geese but I am so glad they are not house geese lol. Man was he loud. He is doing better and has mostly healed. He let's me wrapup his leg now so he was introduced to his flock today. First through a fence because he has been inside for a couple days and tonight i put him in there with them and they did well. No picking at the wrap or anything. So he is outside. My duck hasn't shown up so no she is deff gone. I'm not sure what happened but don't want it to again. They have been kept in the duck house and today I made a temp pen around the opening of the duck house for them.

Good to hear all is going well and he's healing, this time of year with preds reg food sources getting harder to find they get a lot bolder about going after our flocks. Good idea about putting up an enclosure to keep them safe. Thanks for updating and hope you don't have to deal with this again. very sorry about losing your duck too.

What are you saying serv they floated away or something got them?

Back onto the subject, I had a pekin duck sitting on egggs. One day I went to check on her, and....no duck, no eggs, nothing....not even one feather. I think it was a tegu (lizard), as I already had a goose lose all her eggs, and it was obviously a lizard, as it had left 2 eggs...1 broken and ok, but cold...on the ground and stuck under the fence. The broken one was smashed the way a lizard crushes, but I was surprised that it would take a duck! But then at night, the duck just sits tight...poor little thing, she was very personable, a very strange character, very funny duck. And she had such sweet little ducklings. It was a shame. But it never happened again. I reinforced the fence along the bottom so that the lizard couldn´t push under, and all ok since.

Miss lydia when i said they floated away i actually meant floating away coz they swam down the river and they entered another field to the main river shannon, so they might be dead or in the wild :-/ and brazil haha Lizards taking ducks! Thats new

Well it would be new in Ireland, but lizards here aren´t the size of lizards in Ireland! Imagine a lizard big enough to carry off a goose egg.... Not long after that I saw a dead lizard in the neighbour´s field. It was small, just over 2ft long. People around here catch and kill them to protect their eggs and birds, and also for food.........mmmmmmmm

And I reckon your ducks are having a great time in the big, wide world!
