I the two oldest look a bit roostery, but I am hoping they are hens.I don’t know much about chickens, do you know if they’re male or female? The one with the perky tail is really cute!
Is it posture that looks like a rooster? Or the combs? How do you tell? I’m sorry, I’m just curious, I don’t visit the chicken side of things here because I can’t have them and I might try trying to squeeze one into the yard lol.I the two oldest look a bit roostery, but I am hoping they are hens.
Young males with a straight comb like that definitely start to get a thicker, redder comb once they hit the juvenile stage. Unfortunately the two big guys in this pic are both boys, the smaller one is a female. In the hens the comb stays pink or gray and not fully reddish for quite some time. With other breeds with different comb types it can be difficult. The bets identifier I have noticed is that males almost always have thicker legs and different, deeper voices. Is it posture that looks like a rooster? Or the combs? How do you tell?
