My Pet Chicken

I ordered 5 silkies from MPC. They arrived on Tuesday. One was blind and she died today. The other chicks are healthy. I am very upset my chick died but am otherwise happy with my order. It came quickly, and was correct. I wouldn't order standards with one bantam though. It seems like anytime a bantam is sent as a "special rare" with standards they get trampled.

I ordered 6 New Hampshire Red girls from MPC and they're due to come in in about two weeks. So far I'm happy with their service. We'll see how things turn out when my fuzzybutts get here! I'll let you know!

I ordered 5 Easter Eggers about a month ago and they arrived last week. All were alive but one had to be fed with an egg dropper with sugar water to perk her up...it worked. She's the biggest chick to date. She must have used up her stores faster, but all seemed the same age. I am new to chicken raising, and this is my first order online. I got 5 chicks from a local breeder a few days before the EEs arrived, and they are all thriving, including the shipment! My experience with MPC was very good. I received an email about my order a few weeks before, no tracking number, but they arrived 2 days after hatch day. The local post office (an hour west of Atlanta in a small town) called my at 630 am about my arrival. I was able to pick them up at 830 am. I think the one chick would have died if I had been much later. Only one has had a pasty butt that has been responsive to treatment with a warm bath of the butt only, but is the smallest of my flock. I'll post more as time passes.

I ordered from them a few times. Customer service is great. I ordered 3 chicks from them all girls and they are all girls. I ordered shipping eggs I will say only one hatched but that could be the post office fault thy did package them well. I ordered more eggs they ended up not being able to fill my order and gave me several options to correct it. Since I had already received eggs from other sources I chose the refund. I would order from the again my chicks were all healthy and happy also sexed correctly.

We order 10 day-olds from MPC and they arrived a week ago.

They shipped on a Monday and arrived before noon on Tuesday. Three were DOA, and another that was clearly slow died within 24 hours. Yet another died just outside their 48 hour warranty window.

5 out of 10 dead, but because the 5th died just outside their 48-hour window they are unwilling to refund our $35 for shipping or credit the shipping towards out re-order (you need 50% dead within 48-hours for them to refund shipping).

Not happy at all with MPC.

I ordered from them 2 years ago. 6 female chicks, each a different breed. All made it alive and healthy. All were correctly sexed and were the right breeds. Not sure if I'd order from them again though because the price was steep!

I ordered 4 chicks from them last month and was very happy. I had put that I didn't want any substitutions but when they didn't get enough Jersey Giants they actually called me to ask if I wanted a substitution anyway! They gave me a whole list of options and I picked a golden-laced wyandotte. I was really happy they called instead of just pushing my order since I had chosen "no substitutions" initially. (I had only said that because I didn't want to get some random breed that may not have been cold-hardy). The woman I spoke to actually talked to me for quite a while going over the pros and cons of each breed I could choose from and she helped me narrow it down and make my choice.

All 4 chicks arrived healthy and happy. I think the GLW may be a rooster, but that is the only one that is suspicious and they are about 5 weeks old now. Maybe I will write an update at week 10 when I call them to report the roo! I was happy and would order from them again...although I think I may buy local to replace my roo if it comes to that, just so I can get them faster and see the quality of the chicks.

I do love that you can place such a small order with them (4 was the minimum order for Rhode Island), and that they do not send "packing peanuts." They said the only time you get an extra chick is if someone at the hatchery makes a mistake...they don't send extras in case one dies either.

I placed my order in february and I am suppose to receive: one RIR, one Barred Plymouth Rock, one Golden Buff (Red Sex Links)[FONT=Verdana, Arial], one Australop, one Golden Spangled Hamburg, one EE banty, and one white silkie around June 14th. I ordered all them sexed, so hopefully they will be pullets. I also pay for the Mareck vaccine (just for the standards chicks).
Customer service so far has been very helpful and nice... especially Cordell
I really hope they arrive alive and healthy... and pullets! Especially for the banties because MPC is the only place I could find them sexed.

Well I just ordered 6 chicks coming in August and shipping is 36.95 and for certain breeds sexing is between fifty cents and eight dollars. Be warned though some breeds are being sold out so hurry :)
