My scarecrow receives hate mail

Quote:
"I pray that our good Lord in Heaven will watch ..."

"I pray that any other families in your area do not have to be subjected to anymore vulgarity by your family"

What conclusions do those statements lead you to?

No conclusion other than the person was struggling with grammar and trying
to write hurtful things. I would argue the person wrote those things to strike
against Ahbee rather than promote thier own beliefs. Those are easy lines to
come up with whether they are a zealot or not.

Maybe they think Ahbee is Christian and those words would hit her hard. Maybe
the whole thing is a joke.

My point was we simply don't know.

Sorry PC, it just struck me that way...

You have nothing to be sorry about. You could be correct.

In all honesty I was attempting to push this thread back in the direction of helping
Ahbee deal with a jerky neighbor and didn't want to see this become a religeous
thread. If that person was a true Christian they never would have written such a
hurtful, judgemental, and ridiculous letter.

i loved your scarecrow, it is people like that i come to call them yuppies. its people like this who find candy a sin and should never touch cause you will catch diabetes. now bear in mind im diabetic and i still eat candy, as im sitting here eating skittles, the sour ones at that. i cant stand the "new" generation which yelling, violence etc is frowned at. true these things are wrong but when in the world did the human species think that the plant acts like the brady bunch. excuse me but gag me with a spoon. life is hard and your scarecrow to me says alot. i laughed so hard i almost fell out of my chair.

you could add to your scarecrow and make a sign that says "if you dont like this bite me" if the person dosent like it now they sure wont like it then. sorry this is so long but i know ALOT of people unfortunatly that are like the problem people that you are dealing with. all i can say is ROCK ON!!!

PC That is what I thought! I don't know how you quote a person on here but you wrote

I feel the same way!

"Dear Offensive Neighbor:

"I am so offended by your anatomically correct pumpkins that I drove across town to see them. Yes, the cost of gas these days is high, butt... oops... BUT it was critical to my self-worth that I see your morally decrepit scarecrow for myself."

Pshaw. Whatever.

It's important to let kids know that bodies aren't things to be ashamed of. Yes, it's vulgar to pull your pants down and moon someone. If someone is offended by the scarecrow, then use it as an educational converation with kids about censorship and what entails "art" or jokes that are (or aren't) appropriate for public consumption. Discussing in an open manner will teach the kids more than pointing blame and making it shameful.

I used to teach kindergarden Sunday School and once did body outlines of my kids. One little boy decided to add a penis to his drawing as a joke. Of course, all the other kids snickered and laughed. When I saw what he'd done, I just said, "Well, that's an accurate drawing of Timmy because he's a little boy and boys have penises". It deflated (pardon the unintended pun) the kids' giggles and taught them that - at least with me - their body parts weren't shameful or embarassing.

To the OP (Ahbee) ~ wow, you are SO clever! I think the fact that you decorate your home like that is fantastic! As a child, my family didn't decorate much, especially at Halloween, and I would be so jealous and wish that my mom and dad would take the time to do that, especially since us kids were so darn excited about the holiday...then Thanksgiving...then Christmas! Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that I think it shows you probably have a very awesome "family" (quotations as in that letter), and yay for making the holidays a fun, exciting time for your kiddos
