I saw a growing system out of dollar store small tubs. Forgot to pin it and have been seaching for days to find another simple one. Thanks so much, I have ordered 100's of barley seed and we have several tons of oats for our horses. This will give me enough to feed our nine girls and 9 ducks at our sons place. I am also takeing care of 9 other girls that belong to a friend while they are on vacation for 6 weeks. This will be a nice treat for them. I took over some 4th cutting hay it was ok for them but not really happy about my offering. Thanks again
Wow. Every branch of this forum is full of hidden gems! Thanks for the idea! I'm in Wisconsin, so grass and such is rare for like half of the year! lol
Id suggest at least overnight. then rinse as often as u'd like. My experience suggested that light isn't useful until they are actively growing and you want to green them up.
Fabulous! Think I'm going to give this a shot until I get my greehouse built. Already have some wheat seeds and BOSS. Gonna get started this weekend. Thanks!
I now live in Costa Rica, we get lots of rain but we had 8 turkeys that stripped the good things in the yard, now only have some kind of weed that defies the chickens, must not taste very good. I will find some trays and give this a try. I am now fermenting the regular feed but this would give them some good greens. No barley here but am able to buy wheat and oats, expensive, about $.75 USD a pound but then good eggs here are very expensive too so it is a good trade off. I will post back how things go and once I have a workable setup I will post photos. I can get sun flower seeds but no idea if they a the "boss" type as they are used to feed parrots but I will try them to see if they sprout.
