Oh and not to make matters worse, but new houses are not immune to activity surprisingly! You'd be shocked how many new houses I investigate a year

So many people think that because they built their house or bought it brand new that there couldn't possibly be any activity there. WRONG!!! The land isn't new...no land is new. People have been living here for eons. Even if you can't find a record of any house ever being where your house is...that doesn't mean anything. People squatted, Natives lived around there, who knows what your land contains.

We're just now figuring out what looks to be an ancient foundation with stone roads down by our creek. My DH had been saying it for a year, and I agreed that the stones did look a little too square and cut to be natural. Then, we found the hand forged nail in a tree that we were shooting at, and I also found a perfect little garden area right next to the "foundation". I have been harvesting the blackberries at the base of the plum tree, and can't wait for the plums to ripen. This is in the middle of the woods, in a clearing where nothing grows, a good 7 acres from the house. It didn't just "happen". There is no record of any old homestead here, but we are all around where the land rush was, and of course, Indian Territory. Of course, Jesse James and Belle Starr were all over here, too, so who knows what the true history of the land is.

It's fascinating to wonder about, though.

I smudged our house inside and out when we moved in, I didn't bother with the land, though. Whatever was here before us, will be here after us. I have my area, and they have theirs.

I also want to say that if you heard your child talking to them, why not ask the child? They see and know so much about things like this, before society drums it out of them. Obviously he has seen at least one of them. Find out who he is talking to...age, sex, personality. But, don't interrogate him. Sometime, when he is relaxed, ask him who "lives" in his closet. Just be prepared for anything and be sure to not freak out or get hysterical. Kids are open to spirit activity and will respond if they feel that we are open, as well.

It could be something as simple as a Spirit Guide, or even a child's spirit. It is probable that it is more than one, since he talks to one and the other opens his closet. Or, it could be his "friend" wanting him to get up at night and play. It's something that you need to investigate with an open mind. Feel free to pm me, or there are several other people on this thread that also have plenty of experience with this type of thing. You have gotten a lot of good advice, but I would talk to your son, first.

Joz-love to hear the word "Haint"! since moving to Oklahoma, nobody knows what that word means! Must be a Southern thang...I'm from Arkansas.

Hey Shelly!
I have thought about it being his spirit guide he was talking to..
But I havent heard him talk to anyone lately.

I did ask him whos opening the door or whos in the closet and he said he didnt know
Asked him if hes ever talked to anyone or if he hears anyone tlaking but its a negative on his part.

When I first asked he kinda got quiet and looked down then started naming off monsters hes seen on scooby doo

Enjoying this thread! (but sorry any childs gets scared.)

Growin up, we lived in an older farmhouse. There was a hidden room
in the rear of my brothers closet. Never did find a way out of it. But the
other night I dreamed of that house...in the dream there was a tunnel
from that room to another "buried" room on the hillside. In the dream, it
was called the "bone-room".

**And yes, there actually was a caved-in root cellar near the house. But it
was across the blacktopped road. We played there, but never found a tunnel
back to the house.

Our land had an old cementary...old, old place. Sunken stones, names dates
faded away. Woods had taken over. Really neat place.

There was a part of the Underground Railroad through our area, but our home
was not that old. More in the bootleg whiskey and probition era. That was also
apparently a major business in my area. There was a nice clear stream close to
the root cellar, but away from the house.

But...We all know ghosts aren't real.

Don't we?

In Rock Springs a lot of the OLD houses were there when all the Chinese miner issues arose, the strikes and massacres. A couple I knew lived in an old place with almost like, false walls in the basement. You could open a cupboard door, take the back out, and there was a 12 inch empty space between the "wall" and the actual basement foundation wall. It was very old, we never did research but assumed it was either for hiding whiskey or chinese workers. There are old buildings in the original downtown part of Rock Springs with these "cubbies" in the cellars too. You can google the Rock Springs WY chinese massacre, there is a lot of info on it, very sad.
Theres an old mining town outside of Rock Springs called Winton. There was a massacre there too. All thats left of the town is the mine building and some old stone walls from the office and a couple of houses. Its a popular place for the high school kids looking for a thrill to go. The common knowledge is that if you count the bridges that you cross on the way out, then count them again on the way back, you never get the same number. I never got the same number thats 4 sure! Also, there is an old chinese man that many have seen sitting atop the old office wall remant laughing. I went out there and didnt feel anything but terrified, but when we got in the car to leave I know something chased us all the way out to the main road, I was yelling for the driver to go faster and couldnt stop looking out the back window. After we got to town I had images in my head of women and children going about their daily tasks and playing one moment, then running and screaming and blood everywhere. I didnt know the history of Winton at that time, all I knew was that it was party place, but when I told the local "witch" while I was visiting her aromatherapy store about it, she told me the story of the massacre that had taken place. I had goosebumps all over, it freaked me out.

My cousin went on a week long college hiking trip a few years ago , when he was getting a wildlife degree. They were climbing a mountain (not a huge one) and after about an hour or two of climbing they came to little flat spot. There were a few little trails that went sideways instead of up. They sat down and took a water break. A skinny old man walks up to them from one of the small trails. They started talking, and he said he lived there. He said he'd lived here for a very long time. They asked if they could take a picture with him, and he didnt know what that or a camera was. They took a picture said goodbye, and continued. Next day, they came back down, no trace of him, or that he had ever been there. When they got home, they looked at all the pictures, and found the ones they had took with the old man. There was nothing in the picture. Absolutely nothing. Invisible. There was even a picture of a kid with his arm around nothing. You could tell it wasnt fake the way the kid was holding his arm and the look on his face. It turned out that around the early 1900's, people used to mine up there.

Edit : I know it doesnt have anything with house stories, but what the heck

I'd check the level of the door and hinges and stuff, too. Maybe google your address or do a search on your street name on the website of your local paper? You could even call the sheriff's office and ask for a crime report for that area, here they often give them out for insurance purposes. It just lists the area, types and numbers of crimes for the last several years in that area.
